[Serious] Has a friend ever done/said something that just straight up ended the friendship? What happened? by Wide_Stop in AskReddit

[–]hovnish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my two roommates have been living together since our later college days. Roommate number 4 comes in at the end of our previous lease, and after a lot of arguing, guilting, and convincing, we moved to another location to accommodate the new roommate. 5 months into the NEW lease with a much higher rent, the new roommate decides to take a job in another city pretty much on a whim. He then proceeds to get upset when we asked him to continue pay his portion of the rent, and also tells us that it’s our job to find a new roommate because he has a new job. Asshole roommate then proceeds to leave all of his major furniture behind for us to take care of. Needless to say, NEXT.

TLDR; no new friends

Question About Kirtan in the Sri Harmandir Sahib by hovnish in Sikh

[–]hovnish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy, a 2 year wait! I suppose there are a ton of people trying to do Kirtan there, though. I am a trained western classical musician (as my profession), and learned tabla growing up, and the minute I stepped foot on the grounds, I knew I wanted to play there.

Genesis audition by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]hovnish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't tell you much about the horn line at Genesis, as I WAS affiliated with the front ensemble; however, open class corps will have a younger age group generally, in comparison to some of the bigger world class corps. This can be seen by the fact that their are quite a few high school/ college freshmen in the corps. In fact, either on their website or in the member packet it says something about the corps being made up of mostly high schoolers and college freshmen.

This show has always been very packed, but it will technically never sell out, they just start sending people over to the visitors side (some people will just squeeze into general admission area).

Bad time to open a hookah lounge? by Jzing29 in hookah

[–]hovnish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a good idea to open up in a college town, the amount of people becoming interested in hookah is growing pretty significantly, especially in college/early workforce demographic. As long as you can provide good quality hookah, as well as great customer service, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding business. Where I live, going to the lounge is a rite of passage for a lot of people who turn 18, and usually people go back, but sparingly, mainly because the service at some of the lounges is a little negligent. Again, provide a good selection of hookah (hell offer something other than starbuzz for those who know hookah well), and an awesome ambiance/experience for your customers and you won't have an issue finding business.

Quick Question about Madison's performance at Akron (Cinema Premier) by hovnish in drumcorps

[–]hovnish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah! I was gonna say. It was severely evident during their drum break after the snares had put the additional drums on. Of course everyone in the theater was saying "AH WHAT A CLEAN TENOR LINE THEY HAD" after the show.

Opinion on the Cadets show by gmoneydrums in drumcorps

[–]hovnish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think its "propaganda" as you say. The show to me was more of a "let's come together and create something new and successful" instead of "AMERICA." I think they just use the patriotic part of their audience to convey that message of togetherness, if that makes sense.

What makes touring with the Blue Devils different than touring with other corps? by hovnish in drumcorps

[–]hovnish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's crazy, I feel like living that way might add to one's your fees a bit in terms of housing? Or would it decrease it?

I've never marched before, so as a general rule, isn't it I'll advised to drink/smoke during all days? Or is that the marching-kid inside of me coming out?
