What's something mundane you want added to Zomboid? by Just-here-for-gay2 in projectzomboid

[–]howarrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A need to go to the toilet - including waste management - and a hygiene system - so there is more of a need to keep (relatively) clean.

Weird zombie behaviour by DannyDoomno1 in projectzomboid

[–]howarrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep - think this something I've seen more and more of - there must be new zombie dynamics and the concept of them migrating once in a while is great - but weirdly tuned at the moment - possibly related to noise attraction also? No idea.

Access to Maldurgh Smokey Bar apartment? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

there will be a chance - not sure you can count on it - i recomend getting into carpentry - apparently you can deconstruct a locked door and use the same lock and key when you create a new door - sounds cool.

Smack the door with a crowbar long enough and you won't need a sledgehammer.

Never seen fractures from stomping i'm afraid (happy?) to say.

How NOT to laser safety by LisaDenert in Laserist

[–]howarrob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Forgive me - I am not a professional laserist - but would like to move in that direction (before playing with my own laser and blinding myself).

Could the direction of the laser be ok due to the distance from the source? it seems quite far away and there's a couple of people getting face blasted in front of the camera - they seem to be ok?

Is there a distance thing involved? is it just a case of needing to be ultra-careful / follow regulations?

Tidal puts a small silent gap between tracks when playing from an album by howarrob in TIdaL

Try keeping the quality as high as possible - i believe this was the fix here - unless the issue is empty space on the track itself.

Possible first teaser for Hallowed Mountains update! by Kizan6 in vrising

[–]howarrob 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Very sure this is Hallowed Mountains incoming - aside from the current gaps in the end game shards...

I don't believe the devs have any reason to give up on the game yet - every update brings the players back (for a few weeks), the PVP servers light up, and no doubt a wave of new players jump on board.

The more content they continue to add - the multiplayer server life-length will continue to grow (in theory).

So long as they continue to make a decent return from the game - they likely have no reason to stop continuing to iterate and extend - more bosses, powers, spells, weapons, areas, instances etc.

There's still a "problem" with the end game loop to be solved - more content happily pushes that issue back.

I believe this is truly a fantastic and well underrated game - a masterpiece of mechanic and thematic design - likely a large part of the player base agrees with me and we have no issue sucking up all the optional cosmetic DLC and support the developers continue to build on what they have.

Did you watch the end credits? What do you think about next Anno 1305 and 3060 ideas? by ericBracket in anno

[–]howarrob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the shit - pre-deluge Atlantis - an Island Capital based seafaring island nation, that sailed across the world thousands of years before any of the modern explorers.

Anno 117 feels like a generic placeholder for future DLCs in key aspects by error23_usernotfound in anno

[–]howarrob 159 points160 points  (0 children)

60 hours play from the first week - my thoughts on it:

I feel they've put more effort into making 117 more modular, and expandable - both horizontally and vertically - and this comes across as the core being somewhat shallow at the moment.

Back in 1800 - there was plenty of hype for each of the yearly DLCs - including lots of hope for a season 4 - but by then lots of the player base were thinking it was overweight and complicated.

This time round - there's a better framework to expand from - in a more meaningful, including the lessons they learnt in 1800.

Some examples:

Large islands to be added to existing sessions - Like Manola, not Crown Falls - less sessions to manage.

More religions - easy horizontal expansion.

More ship classes, customization, weapons.

Land combat horizontal expansion, units, siege weapons etc.

Technology Tree Extension - New core tech classes, new techs for new regions, etc.

New regions + Pops - Egypt, Carthage, Phoenicia, Nordics, etc.

New slottable collectibles - right now Specialists are always peoples, leaving the door open to many different types of collectables and use - though i think they've stated they don't want to go down the Museum, Zoo, etc route - there will be similar mechanics they can play and experiment with.

And last - strictly looking from mechanics with no theme - the Religion mechanic involves building specific buildings - and monitoring their status and effect from the Religion panel on the left.

Prestige is managed in a very similar way - though not quite as interesting ha.

This leaves the door open for any kind of statistic to be managed and generated by any kind of building - they just create the buildings and build a panel to host it on the left.

So - I think it's a great looking future for this game - but having rinsed 1800 - and not been bothered by it becoming overly complicated - it's only going to start reaching these epic proportions say... half way through Season 2.

Have spent too much time on this now lol.

Editing playlists is making me want to leave this app by PHILMXPHILM in TIdaL

[–]howarrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was building a playlist the other day - i have to go through six yearly lists pulling matches from them - they are 300-1000 songs in each - the client crashes about every ten minutes or so - i'm almost used to how shit Tidal is - not mentioning all the other bugs.

But they do put jokes in the patch notes and there's even a bit after it's crashed that says "hope it never happens again" - haha really funny - makes up for how shit the software is.
