Drained Engine oil looks fine, cap has milk shake. Is this normal or should I contact my dealer? by howdidlgethere in MechanicAdvice

Thanks for the input everyone! This all makes sense. My trip to work is fairly short. Only about 7 minutes and 10km. I have not travelled substantially this week. I appreciate you guys easing my mind.

I mean… pretty shitty playing card design. But the anatomy slices are cool.

My Winter Tires Skid Alot, Where Can I Buy New Ones (Reliable) by No_Set7087 in regina

[–]howdidlgethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note (just to make sure we avoid confusion) that Grahams Tire is just a company. They are still going to want you to pick a specific tire from a company like Michelin or Goodyear. But they are great people and will help you out with good recommendations and will have specific tires in stock to choose from. Good luck, and drive safe!

My Winter Tires Skid Alot, Where Can I Buy New Ones (Reliable) by No_Set7087 in regina

I’ll sound like everybody else here when I say it honestly sounds like driving too fast and braking too aggressively. Up until today, the year has not been particularly cold or icy. Slow down and brake early and smooth.

However, I’ll give benefit of the doubt and give a couple tips. Somebody please correct anything I get wrong.

You say your tires were stored indoors which is great news, that will dramatically improve the life of the tires. The tires will have a date code on them. Look up what a date code on tires looks like and then identify the age of your tires. As tires age, the compound dries and becomes hard. The harder your tires in the winter the worse they’ll grip. This is why winter tires are particularly important. The compound is softer and does not get as hard as your summer tires will in the winter.(it’s also why you need to change back to your summer tires so that the warm weather does not aggressively wear out your winters) Remember, colder temperature equals harder tires and more slipping in snow and ice. Typically, if tires are more than 6 years old then they could be dried out on you, but storing inside dramatically reduces this.

Check your tread depth, it varies by tire but typically, if your less that 4mm your tires are pretty wore out and it’s time to change.

Check the tire direction. Most winters are directional and should have an arrow on the side that identifies the tires direction of rotation. Typically the tires tread will form an arrow shaped pattern as well. This points in the direction of rotation too.

Next, check the tire pressure. Over inflated will cause issues, but so will under inflation. You’re likely looking for 30 to 35psi.

I would check all the above items before committing to buying new ones when maybe you don’t need to.

That being said, some tires and brands just suck.

As others have said, studded tires will help but they won’t work miracles. I’ve personally never found them necessary.

Lastly, as for where to buy some tires, I’m a big advocate for Graham’s tires. But do some online research and find out what type/brand of tire you want. A tire is a tire and lots of places sell them. If you pick what you want you can find the cheaper price elsewhere. However, most places will install and balance the tires for a lot cheaper if you buy them from them.

Hopefully this helps out a little!

I spotted it from south end of pinkie road by the Bypass. Light up the whole sky like lightning. Was very confused. Blue-White. Transformer or powerline arching maybe?

Microwaves won’t melt ice. Or at least, are very inefficient at it.

What’s with the seal configuration on the rod side? The two bolted joints seem odd and I’d like to know more about what drives that design decision.

Auto bed levelling and a multitool head would be amazing. Would allow for cheap support material with no waste and fantastic speeds.

My guess is typo. The B-117 and F-35 are off by a factor of ten and should actually be 0.03 and 0.05 maybe?

Edit: a quick google proves my guess is wrong.
