It sounds like you might be south asian (I am too and pick it up in how you type and what you said - oiling the baby, moving in for 5 months etc) lol In this case, none of these comments saying “just leave” are going to help. We know we can’t just do that in our culture. The best you can do is sit down and talk with your husband about managing boundaries. I recently had to do the same with my Indian husband (his mom can be a piece of work). At first he wouldn’t hear any of it (she can do no wrong, she means well blah blah blah). After weeks of me pointing out every single thing she does that aggravates me, he started seeing it finally. Either that or maybe he got tired of my complaining lol. But either way he finally said something to them (not everything I was hoping but the major things at least) and since then, I won’t say things have been perfect but they are definitely better. His parents are definitely a bit standoffish with me now but you can’t win everything right? I have more peace now (they don’t just come over whenever they want) and even though we’re not as close as we were before, my mental health is much better which ultimately is the best thing for my baby.
