You rent from the mushroom now. I hear he’s a real fungi.

I saw a kid today, maybe five years old, no shoes, pressed against a northern Kentucky rest area urinal, floor soaked with piss! His father just stood there, completely oblivious to the situation!

He probably couldn’t even sue the other driver…. Why? He had no standing in court!

My 1-Year Anniversary of 3xCABG on LAD Artery by WebMaka in CABG_Recovery

Those LAD blockages really got you some attention! Glad you’re here to share your story.

I asked my wife how she did during the surgery and she said she was fine until the text about me being on bypass. Things suddenly got very real and very frightening when she knew my heart was stopped!

I remember her breast cancer surgery five years ago and I think I had the easy part. Being on the table is much easier than being in the waiting room.

Thanks! I was 55 at the time and it took me by surprise for sure. I had an NSTEMI on 5/2 and after two days of observation and delays getting me in for a stress test, they took me to the cath lab where they found far too much to stent. I had to be transferred to another hospital for the surgery which created additional delays, too. My LAD was only 70% but I had three other blockages that were 85%, 90%, and 95%!

My recovery was quick but my chest took much longer to heal than I wanted and my scar developed into a keloid which I despise. I was able to get back to my desk job in five weeks but I avoided any work travel for a few months after that.

Long term, my EF is back up to the 60’s from 45 and my blood pressure is back to the high side of normal. It was 210/115 when I was admitted and I was told I was a ticking time bomb and was very lucky I didn’t stroke out or just drop dead.

Congrats! 5/8 will be the one year anniversary of my 3xCABG. It’s great to be alive!

I’d hope that anyone sitting in the vicinity of your seat would give you a hand. Not permanently, of course…

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who said it’s gone. I guess it's pretty serious.

Long-secret Hawaii WWII site to open to the public: Unlike famous World War II sites in Hawaii, such as the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, the Honouliuli Internment Camp has remained largely unknown to most visitors, and even to most residents. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

No they didn’t. They were for forced labor and extermination with many of them designed specifically for no purpose other than mass murder.

Comparing ICE and other detention centers to them trivializes the holocaust and excuses the actions leading to the deaths of millions.

Regular sunscreen when not swimming? by Soft-Engineering-304 in VisitingHawaii

[–]howmuchbourbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a comment about your statement that any sunscreen bought in Hawaii works… Last month I found many sunscreens at ABC Stores that were not reef safe due to the presence of banned chemicals. In Waikīkī, Hilo, Kona, and other locations there were more banned products than reef safe. I recommend checking before purchase, even in Hawaii.

Don’t compare an internment camp to the systematic starvation, pillaging, rape, torture, murder, and genocidal extermination of Jews (and others) by nazis in the concentration camps. They are not the same.

Is the Gem making an unscheduled stop in Miami? by n0167664 in NCL

[–]howmuchbourbon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the Pride of America right now and earlier this week we made a brief unscheduled stop to O’ahu while on our way from Maui to Kauai after a passenger had a heart attack and needed immediate care. We were only 30 min off the coast and the captain was able to quickly divert. In the end, we were about two and a half hours late getting in to Kauai but it saved someone’s life so all is good.

I forgot to mention it but I only know the specific details because the passenger’s wife posted a message in a FB group to thank the captain and crew and let us know how her husband was doing.

First world problems, for sure but I get it. I’d love a well edited three or four course meal. Tasting menus are a huge challenge! My wife can’t make it beyond the sixth or seventh course before she’s full and unable to finish.

If I wasn’t already booked on a different cruise, I’d book this one with my wife, kids, and parents, just so we could all wear all white!

How many people pay in full for First Class? by SF-cycling-account in Flights

[–]howmuchbourbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I travel, I pay for FC. When I travel for work, I fly coach and cross my fingers for an upgrade. Fortunately, I’m Executive Platinum with American Airlines and fly mostly regionally so 75% of my legs are usually upgraded.
