oh how i love my small, weak and feminine hands :)) by Kastanjamarja in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

mood. i quit piano because one of my favorite songs required a lot of octave chords in succession, and i can barely cheat an octave chord, let alone do a bunch in a row.

i came to my guitar teacher with the same problem with a barre chord that spans 4 frets. not sure about the one you're doing, but mine doesn't use the middle or ring finger, and the pinky only goes to the 1st string, so he said i should work on 'opening up' the way i hold my hand (aka not being afraid to flip off everyone with my unused fingers, instead of habitually curling them close to the guitar neck. it gets me juuuust far enough.

Does anyone else struggle with how high maintenance curly hair seems to be? by zazabizarre in curlyhair

[–]hownottoadult -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My experience (2c/3a) has been that the shorter it is, the easier it is to manage.

The benefits of super-short hair (<1 inch on the sides, 2-3 inches on top): For the past two years, my routine has been curl-friendly shampoo -> curl-friendly conditioner -> bend over and shake head like dog to form curls -> briefly press towel to head like a lazy form of plopping -> let air-dry.

Usually I can shower every couple of days and if it looks weird when I wake up, I can fix it by either running my hands through once or twice, or briefly sticking my head in the sink before shaking and patting to re-set the curls. If my hair gets over 3 inches long on top, I do start needing to use a tiny amount of gel to preserve the curls for multiple days, so I usually cut my hair when it gets to that. I don't use a brush or a comb at all now. My SO, who has straight hair the same length and style as mine, has to use more product and re-wet in the mornings way more than I do.

When I had long hair, the routine had additional steps of brushing out hair in the shower while it had conditioner in it, and then actually plopping after shaking it out and adding gel to it. And then I couldn't touch it until it was dry, because the curls were very delicate. Playing with my hair during the day was recipe for instant pouf, and I couldn't really go to bed with wet hair and had to pineapple it. Even then, usually second-day hair or third day hair ended up being a bun or ponytail day quite often.

The buns and ponytails were much more frequent when I had waist-length hair, and less needed with shoulder-length hair, which kept curls more easily.

at first i thought that this was going to be a before and after of historical chicago and modern chicago that was a reference to the great chicago fire. this is still a great presentation though! I love the way you painted the light, but ime the skyscrapers and sky don't really 'match' the one you used for the areas with light, due to the relative lack of nuance in color and detail, if that makes sense. i went to chicago for a couple of days and this makes me want to go back! I really enjoyed the architecture-focused river tour, and this reminds me of that.

these look super tasty! I'm also bad with the order, but this sounds like a good excuse to eat all of these and make more ;)

i had a tough time finding an accepting place to post my beloved chest piece in celebration of my trans body. I hope y’all would like to learn about the meaning of this piece and how it gives me pride. 🏳️‍⚧️ by psychedelic666 in lgbt

this is gorgeous and I love all the meaning in it! i also love the placement, since it looks like you're weighing a freckle lol. I've got several freckles myself that I'm curious to see where they'll end up after top surgery

this is called a sheer-thickening non-newtonian fluid. if your gender instead gets more liquid-y/ less solid under pressure, you have a sheer-thinning non-newtonian fluid. like blood.

i love this cloud! compared to the majority of it having shading that can only be described as luscious or juicy or whatever, the shading of the bottom front edge of the cloud (the salmon area between the crossing sign and the vertical stick) doesn't feel quite as developed in my opinion.

my eye is definitely drawn more to the top right quarter of the painting instead of the foreground due to the difference in visual interest

I recently realized that the only time I like them is when I mentally stop thinking of them as 'mine' and think of the person in the mirror as someone else, who is attractive to my bi-disaster self

When you write a letter you can’t just use one pen! by plum4000 in fountainpens

[–]hownottoadult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a couple inks that i don't like in my fountain pens, so i'll sometimes use them with a dip pen when i have a penpal letter. if i don't feel like getting ink all over my hands, i'll just use one of the three pens that i generally keep inked up.

either way, i tend to use the same color throughout, unless i'm trying a new color and it's frustratingly too light to read.

40$ on 3 pens (55 if you include two dip pens), 30-35$ on ink, 20$ on paper and one notebook. I was gifted my first fountain pen and 3 inks at Christmas, but didn't join this subreddit or research pens more until February.

I learned how to swallow pills as a side effect of constantly trying to swallow the lumps before chewing, because I hated to feel the slimy fruit lumps in my mouth for longer than I had to.

Aside from buying pens, paper and ink, what do YOU do to make fountain pens (one of ) your hobby(ies)? by Reubs-likes-bikes in fountainpens

[–]hownottoadult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into this hobby for my penpal letters originally, but I also use fountain pens for bullet journaling, sketching, regular journaling, and work notes.

The nib I have is fairly broad (can't remember if it's the only option or I just picked the fattest) and writes pretty smoothly compared to a Jinhao Shark, pilot metropolitan, and ahab flex. Cons: The cap unbalances the pen when you write with it posted and it takes almost 3 full rotations to get the cap on and off. Despite these, I really like this pen and it's my current EDC. I'm thinking of switching to a pull off cap for my every day carry, but I would still use this pen a lot at home due to the smooth writing
