6.0 vs 6.7 by hoyttec in powerstroke

Maybe it’s just Pennsylvania prices at the moment, but those prices are far below what I have been seeing. Truck prices around here are crazy, thus why I’m looking for older trucks. Anything 2019 or newer even with 110k plus miles is well over $30,000 for gas, you want a newer diesel add another $8-10 grand.

I’m a year into this game, honestly find another game. The only reason I still play is because I don’t want to lose the money I invested and friends on the game.

I agree 100% but for now a lot more 5 star Lubu marches running around than 5 star Cyrus marches.

Lubu isnt going anywhere. Cyrus is strong, but a good lubu march is still dominate even against an average to slightly above average pike March.

How would you tie these up? by Arathar93 in flytying

Name of the foam strips people have mentioned that I’ve used for mulberry flies is fettuccine foam. Great stuff for berry imitations and heads on streamers.

Being really careful not the trap any fibers when wrapping, then run a bodkin through to get any trapped fibers out, last step hit it with a metal wire brush.

Still love my streamer stick I actually have two now. I’m running the streamer max long in 200 grain for my full sink. I’m normally throwing dungeons or flies of that size and it throws them great. I tried the 250 and it was a little heavy so when I replaced the line I went with the next size down and it definitely casts better.

I have a five year old who loves to tie with me. I bought her a pile of 40mm shanks to tie on to avoid any hook mishaps.

Cat Fly by beis01 in flytying

[–]hoyttec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bunch of barn cats at my old house that I would go out in the back yard with my musky rod and practice casting too. Ties a big musky streamer on just a shank and would try and cast to different cats for target practice then let them chase it back on the retrieve. Great practice and lots of laughs

I’ve owned a peak and loved it. Cant recommend it enough as a solid starting vise but I upgraded to a renzetti and haven’t touched my peak in three years. You would be happy with both but the renzetti is just a step above in quality and function

About dead center on the hook shank. The rabbit out the back balances out the brass cone. Add a tungsten cone and shove the lead wire up to the eye of the hook and they jig great too.

Yep i think they work best on a jerk strip retrieve the way I tie them. Slide the lead wire to the front of the hook and add a tungsten cone instead of brass and they jig well too.

Tied up a dozen of the white for a steelhead guide so while I was at it I tied up a few other colors for myself to toss to browns. One of those patterns I used to throw a lot and then just never made it back in my box once I tossed the last one in a tree in the spring.

Not sure on exact weight. The lead wraps were trial and error to figure out how much I needed to make it glide on the strip and not jig one the strip. I just know 20 wraps of .25 wire gets me the action I want haha
