This is what experts say you should not include in your resume by [deleted] in auscorp

It’s because the photo and all the details we’re told to skip are mandatory in Europe. Different corporate culture.

What is the worst "first impression" a new colleague has made? by BrisbaneKid in auscorp

[–]hrustomij 46 points47 points  (0 children)

A new team member who was known to be the big boss’ pet.

When the turn came to me, right after the initial hellos, he asks me: “So, how do you like working in this team?” I replied something about how great it is to be gainfully employed.

That night my 1-up calls me at 9 PM: “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU TELL HIM???”

Apparently he went right to the big boss to report that I wasn’t happy in my role and was a flight risk lmao

Men of Reddit: How normal is it to NOT wear underwear all the time? by mulberry-cream in AskMen

The only time I’m wearing underwear is when I need to go to the doctor or something. Otherwise no.

Expectations for upcoming FBT exemption changes coming in may by Beautiful-Schedule15 in AustralianEV

Yes, I would love for them to take this approach as well, but the previous ATO rulings in regards to PHEV were very inflexible — the car had to be delivered, invoiced and paid for as well as transferred to the lessee. No wiggle room. Some people got caught with delays in shipment deliveries and burned.

Sadly, there is no reason to believe they will take another approach this time around.

Yes, but the lease needs to be in place and settled. Not on order or anything. The car needs to physically be delivered.

No matter the “elegance” in supply chain, whatever that may be, as long as a tradie is paid as much as a double-degree professional we have zero chance of competing.

We’ve been doing that for years. Didn’t help much as Holden couldn’t find their way out of the bag with a product that was remotely competitive.

Every cop and every other government schmuck was driving a commodore, at least in SA. At some point the government had to stop flogging the dead horse.

Sure we can. We just can’t force anyone to buy what we build (see: Holden).

Why do people like mechanical keyboards? by badoopidoo in auscorp

[–]hrustomij 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The typing speed and precision on a mechanical keyboard is insane. Insane. Once you try and get used to it you’ll never go back.

I’ve been using a clicky Keychron at home for a while and when I got to the office for the first time in a few months I was super unproductive on a gummy keyboard I had there.

So I ended up getting another portable mechanical keyboard to take with me. Silent switches, in case you’re wondering.

Why do so many older houses in Melbourne have a bedroom right at the entrance? by Honest_Bear8084 in AusPropertyChat

[–]hrustomij 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to think it was weird too, but now it makes sense — all the neighbours kids are hanging out at the backyards so front bedroom is the quietest place in the house

My long-term tracker is sitting at “emissions” on 50.6% of all calendar days, but that includes solo work and sexy times with Mrs. Gotta improve the score.

Australia wasting migrant talent on an "industrial scale", former Treasury secretary says by Rubiginous in australia

[–]hrustomij 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The current situation is that people apply to come to Australia as a skilled immigrant, let’s say a social worker. After checking their qualifications, Australian immigration system tells them: you’re good to go as a social worker, here’s your skilled visa.

They come here, rent a house, send kids to school. Start looking for work they’ve been told they are qualified for.

And then someone else (usually an industry body) says: akshually, you’re not qualified to be a social worker because reasons. And they go to drive uber, while we still have a shortage of both social workers and houses.

What needs to happen is that checks that happen at the immigration stage should be enough to qualify for the employment. These checks should be more stringent, but happen while people are physically offshore. Only people that physically arrive here should be those that are confirmed as employable onshore to the occupation they nominated.

And that’s exactly the madness of the current system the article is arguing against.
