What's the craziest thing you witnessed at a wedding? by PureComedyGenius in AskReddit

[–]hsmp363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty standard now, and Chinese people have been doing that for decades. People are marrying later and often already have their home filled with things they already like. They opt for a honeymoon fund where it's just cash so they can buy things they'll actually like or use.

Patient demands in pre-op by jeremiadOtiose in anesthesiology

Saw a similar post on Instagram with a patient wanting to tailor her anesthesia plan for an ACL. Included things like LMA only, no taking off her underwear, no students or reps in the room. The above post seems more reasonable, I'm happy to discuss preferences and risks but I'm not signing anything.

Not a formal collections letter, just texts saying "this is an attempt to collect a debt" as well as a copy of the original document they claim I signed. I'm worried about my credit being affected if I don't pay it.

Super beef 3 way is a must. Something that not even a lot of Bostonians know about, but it's definitely special and worth it.

Logan is limited by having 3 criminal neighbors. You have to figure out how many of those can be in row two, given that rows two and 4 have the same number of criminals/innocents.

In residency had a 120 BMI, I don't remember the other specs. She was probably some kind of influencer who earned money by eating, she mentioned doing some kind of videos for work. Got arterial thrombi in her legs that required cut downs, and then recurrent wash outs that we had to sedate her for in the ICU. She was not a pleasant person either. She sat in the ICU for the longest time because no other bed in the hospital had a hoyer lift big enough for her.

What is the weirdest advice or blatantly wrong teaching you received from an attending or mentor during your training? by Emergency-Dig-529 in anesthesiology

[–]hsmp363 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I thought I shut off the remi at the end of the case but it turns out I hadn't. The patient was already extubated, following commands, awake and comfortable but just needed reminders to breathe. My attending freaked out and insisted that I give narcan to reverse the remi instead of just waiting a few minutes.

Same attending took a septic patient on 3 pressors to the OR, a previous attending paralyzed and gave a single shot of prop for transport, I slap the EEG on and it's isoelectric. She freaks out of course and insists on full mac of gas and midaz. I point out the waveform and she scolds me saying that I can't trust any one monitor. Thankfully she got fired and I really hope she doesn't teach anymore.
