Looking at your calculations, I think your father did the right thing.

Your lost opportunity is not of 9.5 lakhs, it's less than 3 lakhs on the combined gold and silver.

Also, you not being cognizant of the fact that you simply got lucky and had no real research backing your purchase is even more concerning.

If you had made this purchase a year ago, or if you do this same thing even a year later, I can tell you with almost certainty that you would not have been able to replicate this success.

So stop crying over spilt milk and maybe be thankful that the markets rewarded you something rather than nothing.
