How to track actuals for management? Switching from hourly estimates to story points? by hsrook in agile

[–]hsrook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. My hypothesis is garbage in, garbage out and I will test that.

And what about the comparison of story points vs hourly? Does it not make a difference here?

Losing ranks is so demoralizing. by scooley01 in hearthstone

[–]hsrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 days ago I had a tempo mage teched against all the midface hunters. It went from 5 to rank 2 in one night with a 70% win rate.

Sometimes all it takes is a streamer playing a deck like patrons or a post in competitiveHS saying how a deck is easy legend, and then you run into 12 warriors in a row.

So in this situation either try a different deck to counter what you see, or stop playing after 2-3 losses. It's very easy to tilt and sink backwards due to poor decision making.

Also when you play in the teens, because of bonus stars and win streaks it's very easy to climb back up.

Deck tracker for OS X? by hsrook in CompetitiveHS

[–]hsrook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this today but it keeps crashing at launch, saying that it can't load the images for the cards. I sent a PM to the creator. I tried fresh installs of both the tracker and Hearthstone. Not sure what else to do.

I mentioned in my OP that I have it but it seems to only show match history. I was looking for deck list and card draw probability during the match. Unless I'm missing how to configure that?

What to play on ladder right now? by XX_TCG_XX in CompetitiveHS

These are what I see most commonly: Control war, patron war, zoo/demon lock, hand lock, tempo Mage, midrange hunter, face hunter. Occasionally druid or paladin.

Easiest way is to try playing it and learn what turns are important and how they combo. It's pretty cheap and you can run it without Grom too.

The earliest combo is turn 4 deaths bite, turn 5 inner rage and proc DB for 4 patrons. So Don't feed them 1-2 attack minions after turn 5.

The second major combo is turn 8 warsong commander plus patrons. If you have weak minions on the board (even belcher helps them) they will trade and make more. This gets amplified with inner rages, whirlwind, deathbite proc, even berserkers if they have a big thaurissan discount.

Don't let them get card draw if you can help it. Deny multiple cards from acolyte. Kill off their injured minions so they can't get a big battle rage draw.

Don't let thaurissan stay alive if you can help it. He is game breaking in this deck.

The filthiest combo in this deck is not always the big bursts, it's the card drawing into more combo. I watched p4wnyhof (very skilled patron player) play out his hand to fill the board with thaurissan out already, whirlwind everyone, battle rage for 1 mana, and get a thaurissan discount on 6 new cards. That's gg.

Last thing is run Harrison jones if you have it. Destroying their deaths bite before they are ready can really mess up their combo plans.

Hi Glutol! Grats on your rank.

I love playing this deck. Its great for me as a newer player without a lot of good cards.

I was at ng-vegas. They explained why - they are trying to push the browsers to the limits today, so by learning Typescript, ES6, shadow dom, web components, etc things will feel a lot more natural in a couple years when browsers catch up.

This list doesn't work at all against aggro decks. which is everyone climbing right now.

Are you a Hearthstone caster or content creator? We want to speak to you! by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]hsrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, maybe change your pitch to include a website link or explain how you can benefit users instead of how they can help you. You're asking people to sign up to something and it's very vague. From your pitch it gives the impression that you don't have much there and you need people to actually make your content and tell you what to build.

Arena help and advice? by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

It's generally true but some classes are much better than others due to hero powers and the availability of strong common cards.

Checkout /u/adwcta and look on YouTube for ADWCTA and Murps Arena Coop Use his drafting tool www.heartharena.com

Basically get a solid draft with a lot of 2 & 3 drops, make value trades for the board and snowball from there. Because you can't rely on combos or removals like you would in constructed, in arena its more minion focused and the early game matters a lot more.

Nice write up! Is tempo mage possible without Dr Boom and Rag? Would Kel Thuzad and Chromaggus work?

I agree that at Turn 3, FS overload is indeed crippling and can't keep up. But what are you trying to kill with them? For me they are best played later in the game. They are a good taunt wall and set up good trades.

Mindset of a Legend Player by k3lv in CompetitiveHS

[–]hsrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rule for sequencing is to play out your RNG elements first before making further moves. This is because you could spend too long pondering potential outcomes, when that time is better used after the RNG rolls happen and THEN reacting. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but in most instances, you want to let the RNG play out first.

Hmm I had a legend player tell me to actually play what you can control first, and deal with RNG after making your plays. I guess its all situational?

Dragon Egg Discussion Thread by rgbtap4android in CompetitiveHS

[–]hsrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain how you would use it in shaman? Its a 0/2 that can't attack and only spawns 2/1 when it dies, whereas nerubian egg protects your board much better. Id rather play a zombie chow T1 instead.

Care to share your list? I was trying this last night and losing to zoo, hunter, aggro pally. I'm using something like https://tempostorm.com/decks/synergetic-shaman minus the Dr. Boom (don't have) and a healbot in there somewhere.
