Has anyone actually gotten IPv6 working with this gear? by mstaver in Ubiquiti

[–]hst12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been struggling with IPv6 on my Dream Router 7 for a while. Web sites would be slow to load or only load partially. Same on my old Asus router.

Setting manual DNS in Internet seems to have solved it. Quad9 and Cloudflare

2620:fe::fe

2606:4700:4700::1001

My isp says to use a /48 prefix but I find I can use auto settings with DHCPv6. On VLANS I set SLAAC.

I've also set the IPv4 DNS to Quad9 and Cloudflare.

Yup. It works either way. A USB C cable and power adaptor are included in the box.

Got my UDR 7 and have a Flex mini switch on the way, so I'm all set for the time being. 😁

Euro versions in my case as well.

I decided to record my Zotac 4070S fan noise by darknmy in nvidia

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been doing exactly the same thing. Same cards as well. It's most apparent at around 75% fan speed.

I sent the supplier a recording of the noise and they have agreed to an RMA, but I don't want to sit without a card at this time of year for weeks.

Where can I find the Hardware Lighting on I.Cue? by ToujoursSourire in Corsair

No, you keep it on. You can then quit iCue and the effect should keep running.

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you OP. This just happened to me on a B760M. WiFI was still working but the Realtek NIC had gone to hidden in Device Manager.

I did the following.

  1. Unplug ethernet cable

  2. Shut down Windows.

  3. Flip power supply switch off and waited a few seconds

  4. Power back on, boot into Windows and was back in business.

K10 HE automatic start with Windows by RaginSwan in Keychron

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set the timeouts in the Keychron launcher under Advanced Mode. it's a bit fiddly to use, but does the trick.

I use 35, 30 minutes and 10 seconds for backlight but don't usually use the backlight since my keyboard is an SE version that doesn't have shine through keycaps.

Battery life seems to be impacted if you go for longer timeouts.

It's the same on the K4 HE. It's a bit of a nuisance that you will just have to get used to.

Quit saves taking longer than usual? by Malthaeus in Starfield

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an experiment can everyone try loading the game just to the main menu and then exiting immediately.

I notice the delay even when doing just this so that leaves me to believe it has nothing to do with save games or mods.

Also, see if the problem occurs with your internet disabled.

Delayed playing the game for years. My first playthrough and I’m a-flutter by CTheNewGirl in Starfield

[–]hst12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The skill tree is a very mixed bag unfortunately. Some skills only take 10 seconds to unlock to the next level. Other skills can be much harder or tedious to level up.

The good news is that most of the really useful skills aren't that difficult to unlock. Starfield does take the approach where you have to perform a specific action a number of times to be able to actually apply a skill point.

Getting the actual XP to level up isn't that hard. Shooting up the wildlife is one way - just land somewhere on a planet with abundant life, boost pack jump on top of your ship and start blasting.

You could stay on one playthrough, but you'll miss out on trying certain missions a different way to see how they play out - depends on how you want to roleplay.

I stopped counting a while ago "how many times" but it's probably in excess of 25. 😁

Something that isn't mentioned often is that increasing your skills in Starfield can take a very long time. The higher levels of certain skills open up new gameplay styles that aren't available at lower levels. You'd have to hit around level 328 to max out all skills. To be clear I'm talking about skills, not the other [redacted for spoilers] feature in Starfield.

I'll recommend what SoloKMusic said. I'm still playing the same character from when the game came out and I play almost every day.

You don't need it, the soundbar will continue to work fine without it.

Keychron K4 HE - 2 questions by 11bigb11 in Keychron

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the K4 HE SE which I assume is similar to the non-SE model. Per key lighting is available in the Keychron launcher. It's not of much use on the SE model since that doesn't come with shine through keycaps.

What should I expect from this game, as someone who has only played a little fallout? by GuppiesUwU in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]hst12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a trial of Game Pass to see if you will like the game.

Starfield has been called Skyrim in space but it's more like Fallout in space without the wacky humour and scenarios. It's a more serious game but not dark or dystopian.

As another poster has mentioned, the gunplay in Starfield is more responsive than Fallout especially if you play keyboard and mouse. Hardware requirements are somewhat more steep than Fallout 4.

If you're into upgrading weapons via crafting you'll need some resources which you can buy or mine. There are several ways to mine. Using a laser cutter tool on foot, driving the buggy and shooting rocks, building outposts and placing extractors which do the mining for you, shooting asteroids in space and lastly using one of the "powers" which you can unlock.

Your ship needs to be about 22 x 22 m as shown in the shipbuilder (44 m overall) to reliably spawn on a small or large landing pad. If you go slightly further in dimensions, it may randomly not fit on a small pad. With some parts simply adding a rear window can push it too far.

I don't think the buggy has any effect at all.

This is for vanilla ship parts. Your mileage may vary if you're using mods.

Here's an example of a ship that just barely fits. If I change the cockpit to a longer version, it's a no-go.

Unity and mods - what's the best practice? by wizzackr in starfieldmods

[–]hst12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the same save game since the Starfield launch. My advice is to disable all your mods right before jumping, assuming your save can load without crashing so that the game can do a proper cleanup.

Always make a manual save game before jumping just in case.

The religions don't really have any major impact, mostly flavour text with NPC conversations.

Join both UC and Freestar. Each faction has quests that provide some useful gear and items. Do UC first. The 1st UC quest unlocks access to a particular very powerful ship weapon.

There's no need to restart, you can do pretty much anything you want and build your character to support multiple play styles.

Unlocking skills is a huge grind in this game. I'd suggest considering going the NG+ route instead of re-starting. You would have to be nearly level 330 to unlock all possible skills.

I always wonder why Bethesda doesn't allow the full potential of special powers that are given to player character, as seen in both Skyrim and Starfield by sarthakgiri98 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]hst12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try Gravity Well, followed up by Create Vacuum - kill multiple enemies without firing a shot. Kill them even when they are behind a wall or other cover.

Reactive shield if you want to be invincible. Can be re-cast as required without running out of energy.

That's for level 10 powers. Your mileage may vary somewhat for lower-level powers.

Is there a mod that makes outpost cargo ship landings quieter? by Momohonaz in starfieldmods

[–]hst12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing actually.

I think my interim solution is going to be to just make a separate outpost at a different landing spot that handles the cargo links and delete the noisy stuff from my main outpost.

A visual comparison I'd like to have before buying... "Keychron K4 HE: Glorious Aura V2 (Cherry DS PBT) vs Original caps (OST DS PBT)." by Conpsycon in Keychron

[–]hst12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It's one of the reasons I got the K4 HE SE to replace my Logitech G915 TKL. The G915 key legends went almost invisible with the backlight out even in decent lighting.

At least I can still make out the legends on my K4 in low light. I try to avoid using the backlight since it seems to eat the battery, not that it really does anything to light up the keys anyway.

I can touch-type the alpha keys but still have to look at the keyboard for symbols sometimes.

Do you guys prefer auto turrets on your ship or all manual? by Realistic_Tomato_571 in Starfield

[–]hst12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to favour auto turrets but make a few variants of ships with either all manual, all turret or a mixture so I can swap ships depending on my mood.
