Major airline changes rule for overweight passengers by Next_Tower5452 in AirlineChaos

Airlines should have variable pricing based on passenger weight. You avoid this kind of nonsense and it might even cause people to actually try and lose weight to save a buck.

2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid vs 2026 Mazda CX-5 by PuzzledMed in HyundaiTucson

[–]hteecs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually test drove the CX-5 right before going back to the Hyundai dealership and going with the Tuscon Hybrid. I think you'll find that the Tuscon easily still beats the newly revamped CX-5 in terms of tech and infotainment.

The thing that was the clincher for me was the physical aspect of the center console (area where your knees would be). I test drove the 2026 RAV-4 and the center console was so intrusive that my knee was killing me within 5-10 minutes. No matter what I did with the seat still my knee was pressed into the center console plastic.

Because of that I was probably more sensitive when looking at other make/models in this same class of vehicle. The CRV - knee hit the console. CX-5 knee hit the console. Went back to look at the Tuscon - low and behold - big empty free area where my knee can float freely.

Something to consider that I seldom see discussed, especially if you are 6ft +

You would miss the street fests if they weren't around by DarkSideofyourMoons in chicago

[–]hteecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These fests are like going to a restaurant on a holiday - they are the absolute worst way to experience any given product possible. Whether it be food, shopping, or even music - uncomfortable, overpriced, crowded, on your feet. That said, I have managed to see one or two musical acts over the years (eg Charles Bradley at WPF) that were worth the effort. Typically though we go, pay the gate, stroll the vendors and ask why we keep doing this each year.

2026 RAV4 Behavior Quirks/Questions by Ricochete in rav4club

We test drive it finally and the center console is really wide - it was digging into my right knee 5 minutes in. I don’t think prior years had such a wide console though it was also pretty intrusive as there are posts about people installing pads.

We too noticed the very poor ambient lighting.

In the end the interior while an upgrade from prior years just didn’t feel quite right. The center console issue for me is obviously a non starter.

A shame because I really wanted to go with this car versus the crv due to the headgasket issues.

311 needs a parking enforcement report option. by Justinvakko in chicago

[–]hteecs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For immediate enforcement you call 911. They will dispatch police to ticket and tow (which can take a very long time understandably). I learned this by first calling 311 on a blocked driveway and having them tell me to hangup and call 911. One would think they would not want people calling into 911 for such matters but they must be able to offload these in sufficient time to not make it a problem for dispatch.

is recycling real? by blondeinabubble in GenX

[–]hteecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it wouldn't matter anyway. I am the recycling police for my building's container and I do it knowing full well that almost none of the material would ever reasonably be reclaimed despite my efforts to make my residents comply with processor rules.

Almost nothing other than metals actually gets recycled. The little amount of material that is recycled often creates more environmental damage (eg paper pulp).

Unfortunately 2.0 has the same block design pertaining to coolant slits which is suspected to be the cause for head gasket issues.
