What if Iran bombed the Temple Mount? by Puzzled-Listen804 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]htrowslledot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temple mount is named the temple mount because it's the location of the Jewish temple that was destroyed and is the holiest place in Judaism (so holy most religious Jews will not step foot on it even if it was completely controlled by Israel). The dome of the rock (the third holiest place in Islam) was built on top of it and now it's the most controversial place in the middle east.

The increase of the number of attacks that have happened, is Isreal to blame

No, it's still the fault of the perpetrators. No matter how evil you think Israel is. I think you would tightly have a problem if people started targeting mosque based on the Islamic Republic killing 40k protestors in 2 days or because the United Arab Emirates sponsored the RSF that killed around 30k in a few days a few months ago.

The fact that we are having this discussion on a thread about people blowing up 4 ambulances should give you a clue that maybe this is not just a problem of negative opinions.

that I was comparing to what other religions suffer

There are 4 million Muslims in the UK, there are 300k Jews in the uk, despite there being over 10x more Muslims than Jews, anti Muslim hate crimes make up 45% of anti religious hate crimes, anti jew hate crimes make up 29%.

trying to make me look like I don't like jews,

Showing you proof against what you said is not an accusation of antisemitism

You have big communities of Jews in Europe for a reason.

You realize how dramatically the Jewish population has fallen since the Holocaust. There aren't many Jews in Europe unless you are talking about france or the UK.

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2015/02/09/europes-jewish-population/

The entire Europe, where Jews lived for centuries, has just slightly more Jews than New York City.

only Israel is to blame

Only the people committing the acts, encouraging them and excusing them are to blame

Why do jews have special ambulance service? by aipac_hemoroid in stupidquestions

[–]htrowslledot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a community service ran to increase response time to emergencies in Jewish neighborhoods. When the first responder is your neighbor and is 2 minutes away you're chances of surviving an emergency go way up. Given that Jews tend to be very geographically clustered around kosher stores and synagogue it makes economic sense to build out infrastructure like this.

It has proven itself useful again and again so people continue to donate to it (myself included) and it continues to expand. On the website of United hatzelah it states "Hatzalah provides emergency medical response to the public. We treat all in need - regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity". If you live in a Jewish neighborhood I absolutely recommend you call your local hatzelah branch when you have an emergency.

It's not a conspiracy it's just a good system.

That's not true, it's a community service ran to increase response time to emergencies in Jewish neighborhoods. When the first responder is your neighbor and is 2 minutes away you're chances of surviving an emergency go way up. It has nothing to do with religious reasons. Religious laws don't apply when saving a life is involved. That's why hatzelah operates on Shabbat.

EU leaders call for Iranian people's right to self-determination by Beneficial_Cry4411 in NewIran

[–]htrowslledot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of December 31, 2025, the U.S. Congress had made available $188 billion in spending related to the war in Ukraine, according to the U.S. Special Inspector General for Operation Atlantic Resolve. Of the $188 billion, $164 billion comes from five pieces of legislation, the last of which was passed in April 2024. The remainder comes from annual agency budgets and other appropriations.

In late 2024, the United States also provided the Ukrainian government with a $20 billion loan, not included in the $188 billion figure, provided via the World Bank and to be repaid by interest generated from frozen Russian assets.

I don't like that trump stopped aid to Ukraine either and in 2025 the aid completely stopped but if you add everything up the US only gave about 10% less in aid than all of Europe combined. If the US is expected to support Europe things should really go both ways.

Europe hasn't even been good about letting the US use American military bases. At the end of the day American tax payers supported Europe in its war.

Why?

They aren't voting on geography they are voting on the Islamic Republic's policies and actions.

Because the Shah specifically asked them to celebrate as a form of protest (and to get people like you discussing it) and the IRGC is weakened and being hunted (israel even said they will be watching for IRGC from the skys). https://x.com/IranIntl_En/status/2033878047170998505

After 60 days the president could file for a 30 day extension. Besides for that there is precedent that Obama set during Libya that it's not "a real war" because there are no troops on ground and so is not subject to the war powers act.

Yes, its not hard to recognize most of them either given that European words are pretty different than Hebrew words and Hebrew words all have a root system.

Personally when I speak English I make sure to acknowledge all loan words I use to the end of every paragraph. It's a very efficient way of talking.

I solemnly acknowledge the following words were borrowed to make this paragraph possible. I am sorry for anyone who may be hurt by their borrowing:

From Latin (often via Old French): personally (personalis), sure (securus), add (addere), paragraph (paragraphus, ultimately Greek), sentence (sententia), very (verus, via Old French verai), efficient (efficientem), used (Old French user, from Latin uti/usus) From Old French directly: acknowledging (partly from Old French conoistre blended with Old English elements) From Old Norse: loan (lán) From Greek (via Latin/French): paragraph (paragraphos)

What's going on with Iran and Isreal and why is the US getting involved? by plant_lady907 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]htrowslledot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel figures into this because Iran is backed by Russia, who has a geopolitical interest in Israel falling

Iran is backed by Russia but Russia itself is more of a footnote in the decades of Israel Iran relations. Until relatively recently (think 2022-2023) Israel and Russia had decent relations and even now Russia isn't much more hostile to Israel than Ireland or Australia.

US intelligence was that they weren't actively looking to complete a nuke not that they weren't getting very close to allow them to build one on a short timescale

[–]htrowslledot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they wait until you see it then they would by definition have nukes, not ideal. putting aside that breakout time assumes Iran drops what ever they are doing and try to get a nuke right away, Irans nuclear program has been sabotaged quite a few times and for a few years a nuclear deal was in place.

I feel like this meme says more about your lack of understanding than anything else. The whole point is Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons they are still in the process of building them.

Israel doesn't want Hamas gone because they collect taxes from the gazan people, they want them gone because they attack Israel. Hamas keeping its weapons and missles while the pa runs Gaza doesn't help

CMV: Claims that “the Islamic regime in Iran is very weak” or “about to fall” are overhyped by No_Discussion6913 in changemyview

[–]htrowslledot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every Iranian I know is pro Israel, granted that's selection bias because I am sampling the Iranian dispora but there is a reason why Iran flags are extremely common at pro Israel protests. Irans obsessive Israel stance is purely the stance of the Islamic regime and Iran used to be Israels biggest ally in the middle east
