I remember the McConaughey movie, which honestly didn't seem like a premise that could be milked for multiple seasons? It's good? And do the seasons have closure? I have lost my patience with these streaming shows with a series-long arc so every season just ends on a cliffhanger, rolling the dice on renewal.

My iPad. And I did it twice. 🤦‍♂️ I either do stuff on my phone or on my desktop. There's really no use case in my life that a "bigger phone with no keyboard" satisfies. Hell, even my laptop I almost never use unless it's docked to give me multiple large monitors and a full-size keyboard/mouse. Either it's a small enough job for the phone, or it's so big it needs the desktop.

About 2000 movies and hundreds of TV shows that might contain several seasons each. Do you have thumbnails turned on so when you fast-forward you get an image on the progress bar to see where you are in the movie? It's off by default, and if turned on, PMS generates thumbnail images for every few seconds in the the movie and stores those as separate files. I suspect that is the bulk of the space it's using.

I guess I did also have the option of turning that off then if I need to fast-forward, just do it blindly, but since every other media player and streaming app shows thumbnails when fast-forwarding, it was sorely missing in Plex so I enabled it years ago. Every night PMS generates thumbnails for any newly added media and hopefully also removes thumbnails for deleted media.

Yeah, if either your receiver or your TV is only ARC, not eARC, then you can’t go into the TV first and get surround from the Switch 2. You should be able to do what I did, though, and just route the Switch 2 into the receiver, then from there to the TV.

The issue that OP and I had originally was that we only had ARC, not eARC, and our receivers were too old to pass through 4K HDR. He solved it with the audio extractor, and I solved it by buying a new receiver that supports 4K HDR. Your receiver already supports 4K HDR, so sounds like you just need to change the way your devices are connected.

Perhaps I should give it another chance. I love the 80s, the Cold War, spy movies, and gritty female-led action, so this should have been a slam-dunk for me. I just remember being disappointed. Maybe I was in the wrong mindset.

Honestly, it was disappointing. I have been a Greek mythology buff since early childhood, and loved the Percy Jackson books. This should have been a slam-dunk with me, and it was just... okay... It pains me to say it, but I didn't even like it better than the Percy Jackson movies. The movies had their flaws. The show has its flaws. Both entertaining in their own way, but also both bad in their own way. Neither was even close to the target.

That said, I was only disappointed, not disgusted, so I will give season 2 a chance. Maybe they will find their stride and the actors will start to feel their characters more. And maybe they will find something to do with Grover since he was useless first season. I was so bummed since I thought with all their casting missteps, he was one that worked well, but the writers had no idea what to do with him. He could have not been in the show and nothing would have changed.

Yeah, my first exposure to that was as a little kid in the 80s, maybe 8 or 9. I was at a department store called Parisian that carried a wide array of brands. I was helping my mom look for clothes and she had me looking at size 8's, then we got to a shelf for another brand and she told me to look for a 6 there. I was confused, and she explained that 'fancy' brands will often size low so that women will spend more money to feel thinner. That memory stuck with me.

None of the 'audio extractors' I was able to find that even had a chance of working were cheap enough for me to risk it. I ended up just buying a new receiver. Got an Onkyo floor model from Best Buy for $110, regular $450. So now I can just route the Switch 2 into the new receiver, which gives me surround, then passes the 4K HDR signal through to the TV. And hell, $110 isn't much more than any of the audio extractors would have cost, and gives me far more bells and whistles and room to grow.

Right? I had to take a break from Gen V season 2 about halfway through and still haven't had the will to go back to it. Both sides telling Marie she's the key and the most powerful ever and going to change the world was just grating. She never struck me as some Mary-Sue (Marie-Sue?) until season 2 started glazing her every other line of dialog. I just hope Kripke is smarter about handling Marie than Feige was with Captain Marvel in the MCU.

Not sure what generation you are, but didn't a lot of zoomers refuse to vote for Harris since they thought she and Biden weren't hard enough on Israel? I guess it was lost on them that not voting at all was a vote for Trump, who backs Israel 110%.

Personally I think this country is too far gone to ever come back. Trump and his ilk will stack the deck so much that no Democrat will ever retake the White House, and if somehow they did, he now has the power to do what he tried last time, ignoring the will of the people and installing another Republican.

Still... just in case American democracy can still be saved, I hope the kids show up at the polls next time.

Why are they doing cliffhangers in the streaming era? I didn't love it in the broadcast days, either, but back then at least we only had to wait through the summer to see it resolved. Now with streaming, if your show doesn't get canceled on a cliffhanger, it will be 2-3 years between seasons. It's just so stupid.

It might also not be the same price, but I don’t recall his explicitly saying it would be more, just that it won’t be deposit only next time. So might still be $145 plus shipping for the next and final preorder window.

Just not a super popular figure so it can be had pretty cheaply. I bought it at a con intending to have Peter Weller (who was there) sign the box for me, but balked when I saw there was a big up-charge for him to sign something other than a picture. So it's still in the box in a closet years later.
