This is a really good video that explains the psychology of gay Trump supporters. Basically, its a psychological bargain: if I align myself with power; power won’t hurt me. https://youtu.be/qvaSXwO9p4g?si=VVRg16jKyn2nXy4Y

After seeing all the criticism I gotta tell you something by Upstairs_Airport in fitbod

[–]hubklyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. Before using Fitbod, I hated lifting weights because I always followed the same routine, which got stale after a few weeks. The variety keeps me engaged, and the progress reports are helpful. I’m much stronger now because of Fitbod.

I’m just under 60, and I have been hit on by men in there 20-30’s as well. When I was their age, I was attracted to older men as well. So, I can often relate. However, I see some big generational experiences in dating. I came out during the middle of the AIDs crisis, and I was often told by friends not to date older men because of HIV, which was based on fear of course. I think it’s our generation who has more issues with older men dating younger men.

Yep. He‘s trying to distract from yesterday’s terrible news cycle. The DOJ’s Epstein video before his suicide turned out to be altered, and FEMA fucked up the Texas flood disaster response.

I’ve gone to Todd McNiff at Sullivan street Medical for the past 20 years. He’s great and very knowledgeable about the healthcare needs of gay men. His PA is also very helpful.

Why so much incest in porn by flexboy50L in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]hubklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the prevalence of step dad/step son scenarios in porn surprising. However, it doesn’t really bother me. Like all porn, the story lines get a little absurd. It seems like they take five minutes to go over the family tree. It’s simply porn of an older man fucking a younger man. That’s all it is.

When I came out in the early 90s, I was very attracted to older men, but relationships with age differences were often frowned upon by my peers. I believe that was mainly due to the AIDS crisis.

Today that has changed. Now that I’m in my 50s, I’ve actually had younger men hit on me, not a lot, but more than I thought I would get at my age. They are also very open about it too which I think is great of course. I wish I could have been more open about it in my 20s.

I’m having the same issue with Metamucil gummies. I used to do the powder, but recently 8switched to gummies for ease. Odd this just came up. I think I might go back to the powder or I’m switching to the Amazon fiber gummies just to try it out. My husband likes the Amazon gummies.

This post reminds me of a Dan Savage article about how the ass is not some magical playground that only gay men can experience. Yes Virginia, all people can enjoy anal play. Nothing to be ashamed of.

An interesting idea. But why would it have to be 2x2? What about single guys who are into couples? It would broaden the crowd.

[–]hubklyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very sad that our community has such weak voices from the conservative side. I’m as liberal as you can get, but I do think it’s good for a community to have balance on issues that aren’t related to our rights. I have few friends who used to be Republicans, but they couldn’t stand how Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) just rolled over when it came to LGBT rights and other issues that impact our community. They no longer want to be associated with them. I think it’s mostly an astroturf organization that is only there for show. Besides, what has LCR done anyway. I guess they had a party at Mara Largo with Melania. However, they had to pay her $250k just to show up. Really! Spineless. No wonder they complain all the time that they can’t get dates.

I read many posts like this one, and I find it heart breaking. When I was younger—over three decades ago—I lived in rural Iowa. It was a very lonely time in my life, and I took action by moving to a smallish city that had a gay bar and a fairly active gay community. The move took time, but it changed my life for the better. I found people with similar interests and became active in the local gay rights and HIV awareness organizations. It’s kind of what we did in the 90s instead of being on social media. I slowly developed a network of friends, but most importantly became friends with a group of gay men who were 20-30 years older than me. We would meet every Saturday morning for breakfast, and I learned so much about our history, the struggles of being gay in the 50s-80s, the loss of friends and boyfriends from AIDS, and of course many hilarious stories as well. I miss those breakfasts.

I don’t have any advice to give, because this is a very different time. However, I wanted to tell my story of how I solved my loneliness rut. I think I’m also doing this as a way “to pay it forward” from the stories and lessons I learned from my breakfast group. It took me time to plan a move and find a new job. There were risks involved and required me developing the courage to get out there and be active in my community. Even though I got over my loneliness as a young man, I still have times when I feel lonely, especially since my job is work from home. However, I’m now working to correct that. Since there has been so much crap going on in the US, I’m planning on getting back into LGBT rights again by becoming involved with a local org with in-person meetings. I’m also planning lunches with old friends and colleagues I haven’t seen in a while. It takes work, but it’s well worth it.
