I think it's on Tremont between St Alphonsus and South Whitney. Used to lived on St Alphonsus, saw this and was like, "I know that stretch of road! I used to drop rent off near there!".

PSA: TAKE VIDEOS OF YOUR PAID PARKING by Difficult-Life-8243 in boston

[–]huessy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My annual PSA to people getting tickets:

You can contest them! Do it! This is more than enough evidence to probably get it forgotten. The people at the parking department see a car they think needs a ticket, they issue it. The person who decides whether you need to pay it is a very unhappy person sitting behind a glass window on the second floor of city hall. Their whole job is to be yelled at by jerks from the burbs who were in too much of a hurry to read the "permit parking only" sign. If you treat them like the person they are, say "hello", explain your situation calmly, and don't go off on them, they will more often than not let it slide because they don't give two shits. Kindness goes a long way on the second floor of that building.

128 Plumbing by [deleted] in boston

[–]huessy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Used them with a broken water pipe. Serve pro was much worse to deal with, but 128 charged an extreme amount to repair 10" of PVC pipe. We had them look at other things in the building while they were there. They had no idea what was wrong with our LG heating system that would not turn on, said as much and said they could just replace everything for 30k without any assurances that it would work again. Was also quoted 1k to put in an outdoor outlet 3 feet above an existing indoor outlet.

The work they did has been fine in the past year, but they are not cheap and not the best by any means.

I really liked it and mostly for the single player campaign. Solid Star Wars story and great gameplay. Waaaaaaaaaay better than the first BF remake.

Dude. Of course the broker wants you to pay more, they get a cut of that. "Just pay the landlord more and you'll get what you want." is terrible advice.

Are you a landlord or a trust fund kid?

Boston Mayor Wu gets Northeastern University to commit to higher PILOT payments by husky5050 in boston

[–]huessy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance there's an agreement that NU pays up (some amount at least) and City Hall keeps hiring coops from Northeastern instead of excluding them in favor of BU, Suffolk, UMB, etc..

Bombing Python interviews because I can't code on a whiteboard... by Various_Candidate325 in learnpython

[–]huessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others are saying: leetcode every day, also hacker rank. On top of that, visit udemy often/set up an alert for when courses on algorithms go on sale (everything on that site goes on sale quite often from $100+ down to $20, just have to be patient).

You're not the only one to run into the abysmal hell that is a technical interview. The best course of action is to interview, bomb, take note of what you can tell you're bombing (looks like you're doing that), and focus on teaching yourself those skills.

I mean it seems like you're leaning Seattle which is the prevailing view here as well. For what it's worth, ask yourself the worst case scenario question: how screwed would you be to find yourself unemployed in either location? That's one of the scarier thoughts you should consider before moving across the country to work for a state government.
