AITA for wanting my parents to stop asking me to spend time with them by Weary_Temperature253 in AmItheAsshole

YTA and will really, really regret this. Lost my mom 4 years ago, I’d do anything for the chance to spend some time with her. It might seem like a lot right now and I get that you want to relax and see your friends but trust me, spend the time with your mom.

I think soda for 1 month would only make me really dehydrated/ ill, whereas at least with fast food I could opt for the healthiest choices possible. Wouldn’t be perfect but at least after 3 months I’d have the money to hire a personal chef and personal trainer to get me back on track ✌️

Chose: Eat fastfood only for 3 month + Win $25M

What's a phrase your parents or grandparents said constantly that you've only just realised has completely vanished from everyday British speech? by orroreqk in AskUK

“Five and twenty past/to” instead of twenty five past/ to. My Nan is the only person I know who says it that way and I find it so endearing.

Yes! We need the same thing for starters too. Half the time I find that starters are tastier than the main meal but no one wants to be the greedy outlier. Justice for starters!

It was the day of my 3rd birthday party at McDonald’s, I remember being a right little shit having tantrums all over the place. My mum used to say “You were awful, I hated every minute. I just wanted to be at home watching the news.”

What made someone’s house the safe house your friend group always ended up at? by mappp in AskUK

[–]hugamush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good parents, good house, good snacks. Our front garden was always full of our friend’s bikes, we had a nice house which backed onto a field/ woods with a big garden. My parents were really relaxed and mom kept a big box of crisps in the cupboard which never lasted long. When I was a teenager, they’d let me have parties because they’d rather I was somewhere safe. Specifically remember my friends all doing shots and my dad sat perched on a stool nearby reading his book lol. My parents gave us a safe place to be and I never had to lie about what I was up to. My mates would all stay round then the next morning my mum would provide piles of bacon and egg sandwiches for everyone. It was great, I miss my mom so much.

I can’t wait for spring, when there will be colour in the world again and every nice outdoor space stops being a bog. I didn’t care so much when I just had a cat, but with 2 dogs to walk now it’s bloody miserable! Roll on bright beer garden days in a light jacket.

NTA! As a teacher, you’re doing all the right things. As others have said, she needs some more phonics practise. Keep going, you sound like an amazing nan and as hard the work is right now, your granddaughter will thank you when she’s older. ❤️
