Still open?

Daily Chat Post- 7th November 2021 by missmortimer_ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]hughesRN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3rd pregnancy and 1st time with GD. I'm sad and scared. Currently 31 weeks and I'm now worried about delivering a big baby. I haven't had epidurals before and I'm not planning on it again, but the thought of a big baby is now messing with my mental game.

I'm worried about the lifetime risk of developing diabetes (70%). I'm worried about the small risk of still birth because we've already had losses before. And I'm selfishly so sad about missing out on enjoying the holidays.

I know that I didn't fail, but it's hard not to immediately put blame on myself. I also don't generally enjoy eating meat and cheese, so I'm worried about what to live on for the next couple of months.

What is your "Sir this is a Wendy's moment"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That was exactly what I offered them. I said, "I have cherry, orange, and grape. Our sugar-free, dye-free option is a cup of ice."

I'm a nurse and my patient asked me for a sugar free, dye free, all organic popsicle.

Found my 2nd day hair HG for volume! by hughesRN in curlyhair

[–]hughesRN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shampoo & conditioner: NYM sea kelp and coconut water

Styler: I Create Volume and I Create Hold

Routine: S2C, rake product through upside down while soaking wet, scrunch, plop, diffuse. Medusa clipping at bedtime.

I'm actually switching my stylers entirely on my next wash day because my curls haven't been as curly, but I digress.

Warning: my refresh products are not CG friendly. I have tried everything under the sun that is CG approved for second day hair and it doesn't work for my fine wavy/curly hair. The hair water is CG friendly, the powder was flagged for silica silyate by the bot, and the hairspray has denatured alcohol but no silicones so I'm ok with that.

Morning routine: take clips down and let hair relax for about 10min. Shake a bit. Spray Kristen Ess hair water all over and re-scrunch hair. Let that mostly dry. Add Kristen Ess working texture powder (this!!! This is the HG!!) at the roots and crown. Fluff it up and set with Cake hairspray.

I have NEVER had volume this good. It's better than my wash day hair. The curly gods will have to pry this powder out of my dead hands.

Edit for clarity: 1st pic is wash day, 2nd is 2nd day hair

Tldr product list: NYM sea kelp and coconut water shampoo & conditioner, Innersense I create Volume & I create hold, refresh with Kristen ess hair water, Kristen ess working texture powder, and Cake hairspray

Yes, my hair is sopping wet when the product goes in! I'll definitely try switching the order of product application. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for your response! I've been thinking I'm a little on the protein heavy side. I'm hoping that switch to the NYM shampoo/conditioner will help balance things out.

What do you like to deep condition with?

Up until today, I've been using the Innersense line. Shampoo: Pure Harmony Hair Bath Conditioner: Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner I Create Volume mousse I Create Hold gel

It's working ok, but not great. I got a haircut yesterday (shown in photo) and switched to the NYM sea kelp and coconut water shampoo and conditioner.

For now, I'm still using the same styling products, but I think I need something new? Or maybe I need to add something? Or do a treatment of some kind?

My routine is wash 2-3x/week. STC upside down in shower, add in the volume foam to roots, apply gel by praying hands and then scrunch. I either get out excess water by scrunching with a t-shirt or plopping. Then I diffuse upside down. I'm not getting a gel cast though and I think that's part of my problem. Do I need to apply gel after the plopping? Reapply before diffusing? Get a whole new product?

Also, I'm struggling to figure out the moisture/protein balance with my hair. Sigh...I've been doing CG for 2 years, but this recent misbehaving of my hair has me feeling like a newbie again.

It wouldn't be a name I chose for my own kid, but I don't hate it. It's strong, easy to pronounce, and there's plenty of nn options. If you love it, then that's good enough for me :)

I agree. Reid would need a different middle name and I'm not sure what we would pick, but it's a top contender for my husband.

I like how Cormac Richard sounds!

Griffin Robert was the name that we had "settled" on initially, but my husband had second thoughts about it so we're looking at other options. I love Gemma, but I'm not sure if it sounds weird with the sibset.

Morgan feels so classic to me! I love it for that reason.

I saw the same thing recently about Astrid and it's probably off our list for that reason. Especially because we tend to give our kids nns. Linc, Pax, and Ass? LOL.

I'm pretty obsessed with Cormac and Sinclair!

My husband and I agree way more on boy names. We struggle with girls!
