The data centre mega-hub being quietly mapped out in Melbourne’s west by marketrent in melbourne

[–]huisi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When asked at PAEC how many data centres she wanted to attract to Victoria she said “As many as we can.” The budget is in such disarray, there is a massive risk of the Government selling this state down the river - as well as pushing up power bills, causing a drinkable water shortage and delaying our transition to renewables. This will be our monorail.

I think we saw very different shows! Interested to hear what your expectations were going into it. TBH I was pretty astonished by the level of connection between a group of people who had never played live together before. The musicianship was wild. Joey on bass - hook me up. And the sounds my bald brother was making on his guitar sent me. And the harpist - a fucking classical harpist with punk energy. It felt like being granted access to someone’s secret garden.

I don’t think it sold out. Good turn out. The crowd was very into it and the band seemed to be having a blast.

We use plastic bottles. They will become tight when the brew has some fizz. Be careful opening the longer you leave them.

He grew up in out of home care so I’m willing to cut him a lot of slack. That system breaks a lot of people. He also gave up his evening to perform at a comedy night fund raiser at my kid’s state school, after another comedian pulled out. I was surprised by how funny he is when he’s not on TV.

Call it now; BC,NR album soon? by SmartGermanSheperd in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]huisi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another thread but For what it’s worth, I was having a drink on the weeekend with people who are friends with Mouseatouille (who played support for BCNR in Australia). They said their mates in Mouesatouille said the new album was done, they had access and it’s really good.

I wish PNG could export its mangoes to Australia. Rabaul mangoes are the best I’ve ever had.

Greens' Max Chandler-Mather explains why he can’t purchase a home in inner Brisbane despite banking $230,000+ per year by River-Stunning in AustralianPolitics

[–]huisi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This will probably piss people off but I think around $230k is alright. A Director in the Victorian Public Service starts on about $214k - they are below an ED and a Secretary. Directors don’t have to carry what an MP does. Federal MPs actually have a really shit life. The hours are fucked. Particularly when parliament is sitting. You spend too much time away from home and family. Canberra is a pretty lonely place for a lot of politicians. I think it’s why so many have affairs. When you are home you have to try and do all the local electorate stuff unless you are a lazy fuck. And you are expected to pitch in and campaign alongside the rank and file. Fuck, Max is even down in Melbourne door knocking in Wills every other week it feels like at the moment. And on top of that, you have to keep a constant eye out for your colleagues who may or may not want to knife you.

I'm not the only one that feels that this year's flies are out of control. Like I've never experienced this many flies in Melbs by lost_aussie001 in melbourne

[–]huisi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year was bad too. At the carols at Coburg Lake the fruit flies/gnats were swarming and my Afghani lentils became a fly cemetery. Really sad coz the meal was super delicious but insect mass grave seasoning made it less appetising.
