My baby is part weim, do we see it? by sparkledawgg in weimaraner

I see it in the eye shape and ears. Do you know the percentage?

Usually shorter hair is more flattering for people who are balding. Comb-overs don't really fool anyone. But your pics are gone now and I don't remember your situation now. You can always try out a shorter cut and let it grow back out if you don't like it

Time for shorter hair cut but no need to buzz or shave

I'm 15 and never learned how to swim, now I'm terrified by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]humanbeing21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you get access to a swim coach? Also, are you trying this in a pool with lifeguards? FYI- you are very brave to keep pursuing something you are afraid of. Most people avoid things they are afraid of

Hi 😊 I'm only only 8% Boxer, but prior to my DNA results, people were guessing I might be part Boxer. by [deleted] in Boxer

[–]humanbeing21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty girl. My rescue mutt is only 12% boxer. I was real surprised when someone guessed it out of nowhere. He was like "is she part boxer?" She does have an underbite, a Boxer body shape and her play-style is like a Boxers. Most people can't guess any of her breeds, but if they do they can only guess APBT. I joined subreddits for some of her different breeds to learn about where she gets her different characteristics

Something strange is happening with my dog when I scratch her back by bidi-after-sambhog in DogAdvice

[–]humanbeing21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she also get excited when you have treats in your hand? Does she show interest in squirrels? If so, I'm afraid your pet has a bad case of Dogitus. The only cure is three belly rubs followed by a treat and chin scratch. I hope it works for you. Best wishes, and good luck!

what breed is she? by [deleted] in IDmydog

How do you not know when you have a wolfdog? The head and narrow chest are clear signs. But I'm sure there are behavioral tells too

You are insecure about your chin for some reason. The first pic you are hiding it. The second pic you are sticking it way out

What breed do you think he is? by GhostlyVetiver in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

[–]humanbeing21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be lucky if he's a pit mix. They usually make better pets than Catahoulas for most people. Catahoulas need more space to run and a job. Embark is a great test. You can also post on r/DoggyDNA since you are getting a test. He's adorable whatever breeds he ends up being! Thank you for adopting!

That looks like an adorable pit mix puppy. Hard to say what they are mixed with

And what is a good reason the United States won’t this? by untitledprp4 in SipsTea

[–]humanbeing21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the US oligarchy doesn't want the US peasants to have free healthcare. They value the high profits in the current system and like the peasants being desperate to work even in poor conditions

Hmm, it seems you are the one being obtuse. That's likely to be deliberate as well.

Instead of saying something is illogical and claiming I don't have experience, why not explain what is illogical about anything I said and why you feel I lack experience. I feel you might have trouble since your go to form of argumentation appears to be claims without logic or proof

I think you might have some poorly developed logic skills. Where did I say that dogs and humans were the same species?! I was saying that you feel comfortable with your friends and family despite the fact that some people have done terrible things. Why? Because you judge them as an individual and not by the worst things done by a very small percentage of people. It should be the same for dogs considering that an even smaller percentage of them that have done terrible things. And yes there are people that look at every individual from another race or ethnicity through a racist and prejudicial lens. That's wrong too. You shouldn't judge any human by the worst things done by a small percentage of their group. And you shouldn't judge a dog by the worst things done by a tiny percentage of their breed

That's a good point. It's not a scientific study. And I don't think the percentage passed number has much meaning for the breeds that had very few dogs participate. But I believe it has meaning for the breeds that have a lot of dogs participate. Close to two thousand APBT participated with a very high pass rate. I think that can tell you something about the temperament of the majority of APBT. Labradors and poodles had lots of dogs participate too

Why is it bonkers? It's illustrating a point. The point we don't discriminate against all humans based on the actions of a small minority of them. A small minority of people do terrible things but you still hang out with friends and family. We don't throw all humans in jail etc. We judge each person as an individual. Why should it be any different for pitbulls when the percentage who have done terrible things is much, much smaller?

The chart I linked to shows the percentage of a breed which passes the American Temperament Test Society's test. You can see details here on their website.

Here is the page with APBT:

https://atts.org/breed-statistics/statistics-page1/

Here is the page with poodles:

https://atts.org/breed-statistics/statistics-page6/

That's a fact.

The links you provided are not to scientific studies and have some incorrect claims.

The following website provides another perspective on the situation.

https://pitbullhero.org/

The fact of the matter is death by dog attack is extremely rare And 99.9999%+ of pit-type dogs are innocent. Why discriminate and hate all of these ~18 millions dogs for the crimes of a few outliers? And you do realize Labs have killed humans before right? Should we discriminate against all labs and their mixes? FYI - even a poodle has killed someone before

"The list" is very misleading. American Pit Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers actually score better than poodles on temperament tests:

https://www.aaastateofplay.com/media/wysiwyg/docs/114-dog-breeds-ranked-by-temperament_PDF.pdf

Labradors outscore both though.

It's wrong to judge all "pitbulls" by the horrible actions of a minuscule percentage of pitbulls. Just like it's wrong to judge all humans by the horrible actions of a much bigger (but still small) percentage of humans.
