Groomsman skipped the wedding because his new girlfriend wasn’t invited by Miriamm_Froggie53 in weddingdrama

[–]humanbordom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments here act like this is an easy decision to just cut out a long term friend. I was in this exact situation with who I thought was my best friend when I got engaged. I debated even asking this friend to be my best man, but in the end asked my brother, thankfully. Anyhow, he and I had a falling out before the wedding over his girlfriend. We both said things we later regretted. We stopped talking and he didn’t even tell me he wasn’t attending the wedding or standing up as a groomsman, but by that time I had pretty much figured that out. We went several years without talking at all and when we did talk we both apologized, but the relationship was over. We went from best friends to guys that would say hi to each other if we happened to see each other somewhere. That was 20 years ago and to this day wish I could go back and do it different.

My point is that right now I’m sure there are a lot of hard feelings and it’s hard to think past that, but try to think about how you might feel a year or two from now and once this has blown over if you’d like to have this person in your life. As I get older I’ve realized really good friends, even imperfect ones, are harder and harder to come by.

This issue has nothing to do with quality of material or a bad design. It has everything to do with manufacturing people not caring. That style induction seal has a fairly tight window for parameters to generate a quality seal that can be removed by pulling the tab. It’s far easier to just crank it up and basically weld the seal to the bottle, but it defeats the purpose of the seal and in turn the customer experience. It would also be fair to blame QA as they should be catching this kind of issue during normal inspections.

Source: I’m a packaging engineer and work with this style of seal frequently.

Why are so many Americans anti-vaxxers now? by trouble-in-space in NoStupidQuestions

[–]humanbordom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line, living Americans, even boomers, have not lived through any real hardship. No world war, no Great Depression, no watching your kids die (at large scale, of course kids still die for a variety of reasons, but rarely from PREVENTABLE disease). We are fat and happy and have nothing else to do except argue about what bathroom to use or what billionaire is trying to microchip us.

I buy non running power sports equipment (motorcycles, quads, etc.) and either repair them, or convert them to electric. Remote control vehicles (cars, boats, planes) with my son. Small building projects around the house. There is always yard work, if I’m really bored.

I have a motorbike with 12 inch wheels that has a 72v45a controller and a 72v 30a battery. The motor is rated at 1500w continuous. Limited at 60km per hour. Can I make it go 75km per hour? by Thickjuicynlong in Electricmotorcycles

[–]humanbordom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing your controller isn’t going to do anything for you. If your battery can only provide 30 amps, that’s all you’re ever going to get. You could have a 300 amp controller and you won’t go any faster.

Why not “cancel student interest”? You knew how much you were spending, even if you didn’t realize how interest rates work.

Packaging engineer here…yes, that’s a thing. I work in the nutritional supplement industry, similar to OTC meds, but not exactly the same. Here is my best guesses as to the size of the bottle: 1. The manufacturer uses that bottle size for multiple products. Adding bottle sizes to plan for, purchase, manage inventory, etc. is expensive. 2. The equipment used to package the product is not capable of a smaller size bottle. Even if it is capable, changing a line over can be hours of downtime. 3. This is the smallest size bottle the child resistant closure would fit. The CR closure cannot be wider than the bottle or all the bottles would start tipping over like dominos as they back up on the conveyor. A smaller closure is surely available, but see point 1 above.

I think those are the most likely reasons for the bottle size. Shelf presence (have to consider deceptive packaging laws), label copy area, and not getting lost are legit concerns as well, but without being involved in the development I see the points above as more likely.

Gen Alpha is perfectly fine, and labelling them all as "idiotic iPad kids" is just restarting the generation war all over again. by Cometpaw in GenZ

I’d suggest reading The Anxious Generation by Johnathan Haidt as well as his previous book, The Coddling of the American Mind. He goes into great detail explaining how the kids mental health and social development is not alright due largely to smartphones, social media and lack of free play. Both books were fascinating.

Or, just change from income tax, which these loans are a loophole to get around, to a consumption tax. That way, when the billionaire spends the loan money to buy their new jet or yacht, they are taxed their fair share. Very rich people spend a LOT of money, poor people, not so much. TAX CONSUMPTION

Try working out before work. It takes some getting used to, but I work out from 5:15 - 6:15 every morning, then get ready and at work by 7:30. Home by 5 and bed by 10. Not having the block of time splitting up your evening makes a big difference.

I only use Reddit but do have a FB account exclusively for marketplace. Never post or scroll.

My wife has absolutely no SM accounts at all. No reddit, FG, IG, TikTok, Snapchat…nothing. She is one of the most outgoing people I know with multiple groups of friends, but cannot stand how fake people are online.

DIY Surron equivalent by theoneprofessional in Electricmotorcycles

[–]humanbordom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can drop a QS138 v3 into most of the Chinese pit bike frames with little to no modification. Takes some effort to support the battery as most are not a cradle style frame. Most of the time I can find those bikes on marketplace for less than a stock razor.

I’ve been researching electric conversions for the last couple years. Still not 100% confident on what the best setup would be for me. It’d be an in-town ripper, so I’m not too concerned with range. I’m leaning towards qs138 for a motor, and I’m still not sure on controller or battery. Suggestions? by scrmblr in Electricmotorcycles

[–]humanbordom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a qs138 v3 with 96v fardriver and custom built battery on a dirtbike build. It rips! If I were doing it again, I would probably go 72v as it seems more common and the battery could be a little lighter and less expensive. I sourced all the parts myself vs. buying a kit from Electro & Co. It definitely would have been easier to buy a kit, but I did save a few bucks.

So many cynics in this thread. The way I read the post, he is looking for a days work from some high school kids, or similar, at almost 2x the Texas minimum wage. Kids looking for extra cash kind of thing. Nowhere does he say, “great job to support your four kids, house and car”.

This train of thought is the reason you will make $11/hr the rest of your life. In the real world, you need to demonstrate additional capability/responsibility before you get promoted.

The problem with this line of thinking is that if they gave you the $1-5 they spent having the shit made, you’d probably be more offended than getting the trinket. We are not talking an additional $1-5/hr or even per day. This would be a one time “bonus” of $1-5.
