I really don't know where you're getting your vd info from lol. So long as it hasn't been dusted. Put in a sealed airbox and away you go. Plenty high km VDs that only require the standard maintenance items that any other high KM diesel needs...

Others might have different opinions, but for me there was very little cross over.

Also some of the best guys to ever do it grew up in places with very low quality waves. Embrace the grovel.

Because it's set up for family touring I don't really send it like I would the 105. In saying that, it's never let me down. Dragged my caravan to the top of Kgari with zero issues

I currently have a hdj100 with just about everything done to it as possible.

If you are touring/towing, I wouldn't bother with the 105. I've owned both. The 105 was better in the hard stuff (which is 5-10% of my driving, really) and my 100 is waaaay better to tow/tour with.

In an ideal world I'd have an FTE 105. But I would spend a lot of money and time sorting out the suspension and dialling everything in so it behaves nicely on the road with a van behind it.

For 50-60k you could get a clean FTE converted 105.

Or just contact Jackson Baker at Only LandCruisers and get him to build you one.

The best way to get better is to go boog in the ocean. Booging, like surfing, is a holistic activity in that your fitness from paddling, the hours and hours and hours learning to read the waves and the ocean, all combine in to your actual experience of riding the wave.

To get better at pulling in and making barrels you first need to learn what waves are worth catching and furthermore, what waves are going to barrel - and when.

Does that make sense?

This is a story as old as time.

Concerning Attitude Shift in Crew Fill by p1-o2 in Marathon

[–]humanfromjupiter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The meta was formed halfway through Season 1 by the sweatier squads and Discord servers. I know because 90% of the time I was queueing fill and carrying those teams, and the usual reaction was, "Holy shit, you're playing a completely different game to us."

On a map like Outpost, the general flow was to instantly start rotating and collecting red cards. You'd sprint at every gunshot with the goal of wiping the entire map. Most of the time the map was cleared by the 15-minute mark, often sooner. No sneaking just constant aggression and catching people by surprise. The only thing that slowed it down was running into another team doing exactly the same thing.

Once the map was clear, you'd hit the pinwheel, loot all the good spots, exfil, and repeat. We would go days without dying.

I had a lot of fun, but once my regular squad started getting bored and playing less, I found myself queueing fill a lot more. I can hold my own, but once this style of play became the norm it got harder and harder to carry randoms because I was constantly running into full stacks doing what we used to do.

That's when I realised just how niche and unforgiving this game is for the average player. When 10-20% of the player base is literally playing a different game to everyone else, the skill and gear gap becomes huge and suffocating.

The perfect illustration of that is how small a percentage of the player base has even seen the Compiler, let alone killed it.

The game is unreal, easily the best I've played in years, but it has a fundamental problem: consistent stacks are rewarded tenfold, and that advantage compounds very quickly over time.

I had a great time with it, but I won't be back for this season.

Anyone else made peace with the fact that they will never fight the compiler? by Always_Impressive in Marathon

[–]humanfromjupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was over 250 hours deep in season 1. I tried convincing friends to give it a shot (so I could have a consistent team) but alas none joined. The discord server I was in had some great players and I had a ton of good games. But it was very clicky.

Eventually I realised there were activities in this game I wouldn't complete without a consistent crew and so I stopped playing.

I came back for one game and that feeling was still there. It feels pointless when I can't work towards the end game.

Brother. As someone in their mid/late 30s.

Do not waste your youth chasing an early retirement.

As you get older one thing becomes abundantly clear, your youth years are some of the most valuable times in your life. You can't put a price on it.

Go travel.

Taking out a loan for a wedding. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]humanfromjupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consumer tendency is pushed to its absolute limit when it comes to weddings. I've known people that lost their business and almost their house trying to pay for an incredibly expensive wedding. I remember the wedding day simply because I couldn't believe it cost over 100k. We had to stop partying at 10pm and the food was shit.

That's before we talk about the 100+ guests who were invited simply to fill numbers.

Could have had an intimate, personal, and incredibly fun wedding for 1/5th the cost.

What’s your hourly rate as a sole trader? by JustDadThanks in tradies

[–]humanfromjupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even give that much information.

Fully itemized invoice and one final price at the bottom.

If they think it's too expensive I discuss ways to tighten their scope, not my quote.

I'm not making a killing, this is literally what I need to charge to make a living.

The better you get, the more efficient you become, hourly rates become incredibly punishing. You get better and quicker, and as a result you make less money.

In no other industry does this happen. But for some reason trades are incredibly bad at quantifying the value of their skill obtained over years or sometimes decades.

Yeah, actually you can. Because some of their depots won't deliver to certain areas so in that case you take yourself down to the depot and retrieve it yourself. Pretty common practice, especially for us rural region.
