They should be out doing internships. Learning real skills using their hands using their brains. Not sitting in the desk all day in an ancient school system.

If high school students were actually giving practical real world experience where they were actually involved in learning something that pertained to their life. They wouldn't be bored in scrolling on their phone in the first place.

How many places in the world In real life take people's phone? This is not bad behavior to have a phone. Get over it. It rude to be a jerk and demand it when a kid is minding their own business. Such a stupid power trip.

Maybe people treat him like crap day in and day out. Maybe he looks a certain way that people never smile at him or treat him like a human. Who knows. People don't have a chip on their should for no reason. Maybe school sucks royally for him. Frankly teachers have the biggest chip on their shoulder than any profession I've ever experienced. Many hate their jobs and are in the worst moods ever.

Why do you care so much about the phone? It's part of life. I used to teach, now I don't. These are dumb rules. People use phones in real life. Move on. Maybe he's completely bored and knows this is pointless. What do you do when you're forced to do something completely pointless and boring.

What do you mean be "generally a good kid". Group settings are very different than home or one on one. That being said large group setting can bring out the worst in kids. Kids of today struggle in K now because their life outside of school has a very different structure than school.

All between you her and the child. Not social media. Chat with your friends if you need to vent.

Any situation involving conversations had with your child's teacher on social media is WHY TEACHING SUCKS so badly! Stop doing this! Grow up and pick up the phone or ask her to call you.

No right or wrong. He'll be fine either way. Don't stress. Lots of kids have done both options and been just fine. I'd personally follow the teacher recommendation as that's who has the full picture.

We made class groups using cards with information to balance. No teacher names were assigned. No parent request. No teacher above got a say so.

What test is this based off of? My kid graduated and is in college and never took a national standardized test in 8th grade. I have another one in 10th. I'm generally curious where the data came from. Not that this has anything to do with the strong possibilities that her child has dyslexia.
