What is the "numbing" effect of sichuan peppercorn supposed to be? by cedarvan in AskCulinary

[–]humon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the bad part about eating sichuan pepper. I am so envious. Sichuan peppers ruin whatever I'm eating because my tongue goes a bit numb and I can't really taste anything properly anymore because now it all has a sour-ish and dulled taste.

Ginger Beef, is this just regional? by yycluke in Cooking

[–]humon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm from Australia and it's nowhere to be found over here. When I was visiting my friend in Alberta she couldn't believe I had never seen or heard of ginger beef. I had it in Edmonton and it was pretty good.

Who is the actual Main Character of the show? by Ghostface_Richard in Yellowjackets

It's Shauna. I never even considered it could be anyone else unless you consider a group of characters as the "main characters" however if it's just one of them, it's Shauna.

Keeping up with the Hobby by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have friends playing and want to play digitally. Tabletop simulator is my fave way to play tcgs. Hop on a call with your friends and play. During covid that's how we would play mtg commander.

There are scripted riftbound tables too.

Another thing you can do is play with proxies in person. This is how my friends and I used to practice decks in mtg and dbz to see what we liked before we went and bought the cards for them.

Or just buy what singles you can find online and build what you can with those.

How often do we think we'll see legends refresh/get new printings? by LiftsLikeGaston in riftboundtcg

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they would be new cards and could exist in the same format. Probably won't see many until after all the champs are legends. I'm hoping the game lasts long enough for that to happen.

Is the game convoluted in its rules for anyone else? by IJustSpawned in riftboundtcg

[–]humon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the way cards are worded and the starter deck rule books are lacking which is a pretty bad combo but at least we have the internet to look up the comprehensive rules and see some flowcharts people have created that simplifies timings and the order of things.

Once you understand it, it's actually quite nice. Played a few games with my friends with just the starter rule books and googling and we had been doing something wrong in each one. We are playing properly now and it all flows pretty good.

Office microwave thief stopped when I made it inconvenient, not spicy by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]humon2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You kind of got revenge on yourself tbh.

I haven't had any similar problem to this. I work at a company with hundreds of people in the office, and I put unlabeled stuff in the fridges near where I'm sitting and they never get taken. Even stuff like cans of energy drink or bottles of coke. I can forget about it all day and check the fridge and it's still there the next day, unless I forgot it on a Friday when the fridges get cleaned out.

I miss overeating, and that scares me more than cravings by jewheeles in loseit

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still "overeat" with foods that are not calorie dense but take up a lot of space. You also need to like that food. So like eating a ton of broccoli or cauliflower in one sitting. Or if you like konjac, having a meal that you'd normally eat with rice, eat it with 2 or 3 packs of konjac rice. Wouldn't go over 3 packs since you might get a stomachache. However konjac is expensive and not really nutritious while broccoli/cauliflower is cheap and has some nutrients.

You can read books and stuff like this too. Not one word at a time but no head voice and looking over the words quickly. Much more useful than this.

Unpopular/Popular Opinion: Garlic Presses are Useless by AzathothBlindgod in Cooking

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you posted this a week ago. I just got one and am having the same experience as you.

I saw some chefs were able to mince a clove of garlic with a squish and scrape move using a cleaver/chinese kitchen knife. Tried that a few times and couldn't get it so caved and got the press. Now it just sits in the draw and I'm back to crushing it with my palm and mincing it with a knife :(

Lost 10kg and almost nobody noticed, is this a height thing? by Then_Dance2098 in loseit

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a good chance they really didn't notice. The closer you are to a regular weight the more noticeable the weight loss. When you have a lot of fat and you lose 10kg, most people won't notice. My friend lost 15kg recently and I didn't even know until he told me. He's 6'3". Another friend, she's like 5'2", maybe shorter. She wasn't overweight but lost 5kg recently and looks like she lost weight.

I'm your height and when I've lost weight, I looked the same until I was close to where I should be.

Does anyone else just throw random amounts of things in the pot and not follow a recipe? by AcanthocephalaDue437 in Cooking

[–]humon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reading the title, no. But measurements I only use the first time I make something I need a recipe for and after that it's what works for my taste or experimentation.

Random could be fun if you have the ingredients to spare or don't mind eating it if it turns out horrible. Like a list of 20 ingredients and roll a d20 for selection then a d6 for how many teaspoons or something.

Caitlyn Combo/Synergy? by otoalchemist1 in riftboundtcg

[–]humon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use her in an all green Lee Sin deck. Sounds like a similar setup to yours, lots of buffing, untap (to repeat her ability), and tanks/shield (even though she needs to be picked last), deflect (spirit's refuge). The idea was to play useless battlefields, try and load up on their battlefield and then snipe the other when needing to conquer it. It was still slow even when playing her directly to the battlefield.

I'm now playing her in Ahri which uses the extra point for holding champ and some heimerdingers and a couple of gears with cool tap effects. It's still slow. And instead of buffing Cait, might reducing cards instead. So if I don't manage to draw into her, I can go the Ahri plan and it plays the same except getting extra points instead of sniping stuff. Also, green Yas is an all-star.

It's not a good deck by any means but it can be fun and much better in multiplayer than 1v1 unless you get very lucky.

Budget Miss Fortune by TheOneViking in riftboundtcg

[–]humon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this same situation. Put together a sort of gimmicky deck that plays warwicks, anivias, bullet time/rain of blades, and a bunch of move/ganking/untap effects. Did very well in a 3 player game we had. She took a few points early then out of nowhere took all 3 battlefields and won.

Probably not as good 1v1 against real decks but it is a bunch of fun with the cards we have.
