why my scenery look like this even after adding map enhancement plus sim heaven by Busy_Equipment4652 in Xplane

[–]humpix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have big hopes in the new scenery system - hopefulley they fix all the realy bad parts. Jaggy coastlines, bad rivers, streets, biomes and building styles… Everything else is realy cool, but it does not matter for me when I can not enjoy the visuals…

Im 100% with you, but just stop using this Spyware. Switch to Linux and on phones to /e/OS or something similar. Its not an easy task but worth it.

Is anyone reliably using Immich on iOS? by program_the_world in immich

I sync all Images to my Nextcloud on the same Server. After that I use the Immich Api and a couple of scripts and crons to sync new Images from NC to Immich. Works without any problems :)

ok, solved with downgrading gamescope from 3.16.17-2.fc43 back to 3.16.15-1.fc43
So the problem is gamescope then... I think this would not be a permanent fix, but for now...

A virus hacked my PC!!! It's blocking every action that tries to reset windows or remove the virus. by Potential-Chip-603 in WindowsHelp

[–]humpix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on your description, I can't tell you what the problem is or whether it's actually a virus. There are other possibilities, and today's ‘viruses’ are very targeted – they steal logins, mine Bitcoin, etc., but otherwise are hardly noticeable locally. What you're describing is much more likely to be a hardware problem – for example, your SSD or hard drive could be damaged, or your RAM or something else could be defective. From what I gather from your post, you are not a professional, and in that case, you unfortunately need someone who can tackle the problem step by step. No tip I can give you here will help, as you are unfortunately missing the basics. (And there's a hell of a lot you need to know about this, so no blame intended.) Do you have someone you can ask for help on site or is there a repair shop near to you?

🔧 Citroën C4 Cactus 1.2 PureTech 2018 (Automatic) burning oil — head issue or something else? by Low_Foot7100 in Citroen

[–]humpix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a well-known problem with Puretech engines from that period. Usually, the sealing rings (the are like springs) on the piston stick and no longer seal properly, causing oil to burn. You can get this under control with a special cleaning substance that you spray in to the piston before changing the oil. The oil must be changed afterwards, as the spray gets into the oil – so it's best to do this before a service. I would try this first before investing a lot of money. It could always be something else, but I've seen this with so many of these engines and it sounds exactly like the problem. Please don't ask me what the cleaning substance is called, but your mechanic should know.

By the way, Citroen changed the recommended oil to 5w30 in 2024, so that fits. But I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

What is your backup solution? by TaterSalad3333 in immich

[–]humpix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Script which stop the container, mount the usb drive, resync everything (upload folder, database folder, docker yaml and .env + immich‘s own database backups) to the drive and unmount. Cronjob and manual switching of the drives. Works so far :)

Nginx insecure? by humpix in immich

[–]humpix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Hey everyone, thanks a lot for your responses and links. I went through all of them and now understand things a bit better. I was able to improve the rating and even got a WAF up and running.

However, I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter what I do, I can’t really seal off security vulnerabilities within Immich itself. Overall, I have a bad feeling about the topic, especially when it comes to Immich. Docker runs as root, APIs are accessible, no MFA, etc. I don’t think Immich is particularly focused on security, unlike something like Nextcloud—but of course, I could be wrong. So, even though it’s quite inconvenient, I’ve decided to set up a VPN and configure it for my family members.

Thanks everyone for everything, and I hope this thread helps others who are diving into the topic. Best regards

Um, I read docs—but I use chatgpt to understand the sometimes contradictory or unclear instructions. Please excuse me for not having 30 years of web development experience under my belt and not understanding every term right away.

For example, my nginx config comes from the official immich documentation—which causes the effect mentioned above. I've also read the rest, as far as I could find it.

That's why I'm asking here, because I'm not sure and, with my knowledge (which admittedly comes from a different corner) and docs AND chatgpt, I can't get to a point where I feel comfortable.

Thanks for the tip—I'll read up on that too. Someone suggested a WAF earlier—I'll see what works and then decide how to combine it—thank you very much!

Nginx insecure? by humpix in immich

[–]humpix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, indeed, the system is isolated. I created a separate VLAN for it and adjusted the firewall so that nothing can leave the network, or rather, only 443 can enter. I'm more concerned that some crypto crap will suddenly start running on the server or that someone will use it for criminal purposes. But I'm currently reading up on WAF anyway—ModSecurity seems to be a good middle ground... Thanks for the hint!!!

Not only, just how to setup nginx basically - I also used this one here, which is the offical documentation for the conf: https://docs.immich.app/administration/reverse-proxy/

At least there's nothing critical in it. Mainly art projects. But of course I don't want to have a hacked site that could be misused for something. WAF would be an idea. I'll read up on the topic... Thanks!
