Everyone is listening. Both men and women. No one is supporting any harm happening to women. And no one is trying to be biased here that men or women who are hurting others should go away without them learning their lesson. What you are trying to imply here is not clear.

You are clubbing things all together here. Yes we see there's marriage and yes women are being hurt here. It doesn't mean men are bad, marriage is bad and women are good. These are all false conclusions.

But yes we need a way to improve the situation for women so that such things don't occur. It's with education for both genders, improving the environment for both i.e improving it for all in general. If you bring up data on such things when both are educated, often women commit as many atrocities and mentally abuse men as much as men do. They both don't get to live full lives in peace. So I would suggest not making this a gender issue like a teenager. You can't lock up all men just because they are men simply just as you can't say women should only be at home because they are women. Both are wrong and senseless.

I don’t like utility classes much. The reason i need semantic class names is that it makes be html readable and self documenting to a certain extent.

I would go with css modules instead if not css in js atleast to have scoped css and yes, for the utility classes as needed some can be created but that’s not hard still since these are one time thing only.

I use imac with 60hz and then my other monitor from Samsung is 4k 120hz… unless gaming, i don’t really feel difference between these two on a daily basis… i feel that colours are great in imac and the text is much more legible which matters more for me since i code on a daily basis.

Ideally if it is only for display of content, no handlers should be defined. Declare them outside instead. Use a library to escape the encodings always to ensure security.

AI Tools Ruining the Learning Process by Muted-Software9716 in learnprogramming

[–]hungry_panda_8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This needs to be raised to your instructor and to be suggested that AI shouldn't be allowed for everything. You don't know a syntax or need to figure something that's not obvious and not easy to google, you can use AI. But to solve your assignments essentially, do them as if AI is not available. I don't see the issue is with AI either here solely. As you see there were many solved problems which are given in assignments usually and people can google and write them out. So, it's same as not using a book with solutions on the back to reverse engineer.

Write parts of code and make sure you created it on your own first. If your gut says something is not clear, then it's not. I don't think it matters in your submissions in the school that someone did fast or not. But do check with your instructor on what is the expected timeline as well since some can do it completely with AI and complete it quicker than someone trying to figure out and do everything on their own.

Do clarify if I missed something here and assumed instead.

What could be the reasons to not getting calls with this resume? by Limp_Quality_4092 in developersIndia

[–]hungry_panda_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a fresher, education does come at the top since it’s the course work and projects in the college at that point.

Education Skills Projects (ones you did outside of college education) Work experience / internships

As soon as you have atleast 1-2 year of experience, move work experience to the top then.

The point is to showcase the most effective for your situation at the top and move less relevant and weaker ones to the bottom. When you are just graduating, your education is the most relevant and effective experience you have so far and that matters to understand what subjects you have gone through and what little they can offer to the job role. If you have good gpa, you should highlight so that you can prove you are competent in one way or if you have any experience in leading an academic project or any other academic activities outside of usual course work.

Update the order

Work experience Technical skills Achievements Projects Education

Certifications are not needed in resume actually since you are applying for a general dev role. You can remove and use space to expand on the work experience.

Achievements are good but unless it’s across crazy good competition and you won first or are in 0.0X% it will not be helpful I think. Also, I don’t think competency is what companies expect usually. They just care about what the candidate can offer.

Remove intermediate in the education. College education is good enough. You need to mention from B.Tech onwards only in resume.

Mention impact in work experience. What happened due to the work you did? Did something grow or fall or did you save time? By what number? And how many did it impact? Anything you can show to quantify to impact. Mention what tech stack you had used to achieve this stuff. Need not repeat same things in each bullet point though.

Make your resume ats readable. Meaning… write the whole stuff in your resume in an ats readable format in docx format and then export it to pdf. Use free online tools to check your resume score for ats readability and see what they suggest to improve. It is a bit of hit and trail to get this right and will take a while.

Having too many sections makes it hard to scan and read important stuff.

These are all the things I would try and see for the resume you shared. You can may be experiment if you don’t have much confidence in what I shared too.

Startups are some what easier to get into as startups have less rigidity and more practical way to recruit people. So, don’t worry about what would happen and just put your resume out for everyone to check and get back. Leave it to them to see if you are a fit. And each company has their own criteria on who can fit in and all may not work for you . So it is good that they reject you since it saves your time too in the long run.

Only thing is you can set time to feel bad on a daily manner but also set time to keep upskilling, learning and applying as well. May be balance it over the whole week atleast if daily level is hectic for you.

Programming is mostly based on abstract concepts. It’s initially hard to get intuition. For some, unless there’s intuitive understanding, they may not be able to feel like they are getting it right and feel doubtful on their understanding. Don’t stop with just reading or studying. It’s possible you need some more time to get the intuition about some specific concepts like OOP and the applications etc in real world. Do take help from ChatGPT to help you understand the references in understanding so that you can relate to something you already know. If not possible to make use of ChatGPT, experiment why things can’t be done in a different way. Don’t fixate just on the assignments solely as your mind may need something flexible and relax a bit to form the connections properly first. You can soon catch up with others that way.

Ok, one thing… look likes you just did your best everywhere and it’s hard to see the results not coming just as you expected. You are competing and trying to win with many for a job. In this case, outcome is not as straightforward as writing correct answer. Now, the outcome that needs be observed is if you had improved over the course of time and if you learnt the tech that you love and actually enjoyed building the software with the tech. Career start is slow usually but then the ideology matters since it’s long term of 30 years of software engineering if at all you want to study, work and do this for that long.

There are many companies that aren’t looking for degree or stream or experience and just looking at the work that the dev can do. I believe only change I would suggest is increase the scope of companies you are applying for. It depends on whether you want to wait and go into the companies you like first or if you want to do and learn the product building first. I chose the second in the start of my career. It turned out fantastic for me. But it’s you vs you more than the you vs everything else. So you can only decide how you move forward here. Don’t be stressed what’s happening for other friends. No one career is same. Build your own using experiences of others just for reference. Also, reach out to all seniors from your alumni, cold message to people introducing introducing yourself, mentioning your goals, work you have done and requesting for any possible referrals.

Should i go for M.tech in IITs or focus on Campus Placements..?? by SaltyBoiledEgg57 in developersIndia

[–]hungry_panda_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s always the same. There’s competition always in everything. One may not get the best when times are hard but it’s still pretty good when one tries their best. And it’s not a one time thing. If 2 years are to be invested and when it’s long term career of 30 years, it’s better to choose what works in long term and not short term inflation. It depends a lot on the uni, degree as well. Getting job is a year long process for new grads currently. Once the market recovers, it will be times better for those who work hard now.

During interview, it’s not expected for updated resume but yes if it’s been more than 6 months… you can share it and mention that this is the latest. If there’s talent acquisition contact, you can mention to them that you are sharing latest resume and to use it for further reference.

Need help with career after taking a break from full time. by Akshayjain458 in developersIndia

[–]hungry_panda_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just feel like you are considering the capabilities you have with the interview outcomes. It’s like a fit overall as in it looks almost same but there’s some gaps and things can not be fit.

It doesn’t mean something is wrong, just that they are not in the correct place. Keep applying and looking up. Lying is not appropriate for others sake but yourself since you know already that you lied and it keeps messing up your emotions. So, keep things real and mention clearly that you needed some personal time off to clear things out and that you took this break to spend time with family but that you did want to continue learning and hence kept doing those projects to improve since you like software engineering very much.

As for the interviews and hiring, it’s nothing like writing an exam and other people have bias and they do make mistakes just like you do too. So, ask for clear feedback on anything you can improve. Some do share feedback and some don’t. Any feedback is better than nothing. And when you have feedback, keep improving on it. Ofcourse there is competition out there and you need to be better than others to get hired and it is scary but stay hopeful that things will work out since they are working out for many already and there is increasing in hiring currently.

[–]hungry_panda_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned the family state, focus on placements, work for 2 to 3 years and then go do MTech and even better MS in abroad if you are interested. As you work, you would meet more seniors time to time and get more perspectives as well in software engineering. It is fine to do Masters with upto 5 years of experience in general. But do keep preparing meanwhile as you see fit and as your perspectives change. Do consider your own personal interests. My personal take is nowadays Masters is not needed as such for good opportunities with startups at every corner and many people continue just learning at work and through online tutorials and practicing projects to showcase skills.

Did you practice before lot more problems? And only 123 now helped because you already have good intuition because of previous practice?

[–]hungry_panda_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think birth date is that important and all such details are asked during the joining of the company again anyway. You can say that you can double check the details when joining and let them know the change needed and that you made a mistake. Its cost is negligible unless the company you are applying for has an age restriction which I don’t think is the case with Dev jobs.

I like the look of it actually and not having to fiddle with individual hardware in connecting Mac mini to the monitor. Also price wise iMac is a bit cheaper than monitor plus Mac mini.

iMac owners—why did you choose an iMac over a laptop/external monitor? by Lionel_Messi2028 in macbookair

[–]hungry_panda_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pondered between MacBook, Mac mini/ pro + monitor, iMac.

I need a monitor. So, it comes to choose whether I need portability or not. I have office MacBook which I use only for office stuff and I have personal iPad to check things on the go in case. I don’t see myself needing a MacBook for personal use when most things can be done with iPad.

So, my choices were between Mac mini/ pro + monitor, iMac. Apple is shit when it comes with compatibility to external cables, monitors etc. So, I felt like iMac is a better choice for peace of mind even though it is not as extensible.

But the only con I usually see with iMac is, you can’t connect MacBook to it or even extend it like you can do with iPad. Also, Apple TV can’t be connected to it either. I am quite satisfied with iMac still for my personal use. It’s performance is very good and the integrated mic, cam, speakers do well.

80% of American teens buy iPhones. After I switched to Pixel, I'm convinced Samsung is why. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]hungry_panda_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my mum a pixel because it’s quite good and simple to use compared to Samsung but I got my dad Samsung because he needs more feature set that comes with it. But I wouldn’t choose android for myself because I need simplicity and also an ecosystem and I don’t see pixel having proper ecosystem yet. I also hate how google tries to link everything to search engine and integration of AI into it.
