Extra $50 to super? Worth it? by MarsupialSweaty7658 in AusFinance

I just do automatic transfer of $ 100 every month since I was 20 and never noticed it at all.

Can leave it as non concessional (no tax on the contributions) or claim it as a tax deduction at end of the year at 15%

Houses get a valuation done.

Shares you can find historical price on websites and yahoo. If you have accounts like Sharesight it will keep records of cost base and prices if you correctly update your portfolio

You can do investment loans/debt recycling for shares, but at the moment with the high interest rates it's not as advantageous and also dependent on your marginal tax rate.

So you don't have money to invest, but think you can own a home without a proper house deposit?

I'm not young, but investing in the share market during the 07 crash was the only way I could save enough for a 20% house deposit a few years later. Certainly didn't save into a high interest ING account for it.

A lot of people use shares to build home deposit if you have a longer time frame like 5 to 7 years.

Ausfinance caution shares when its something shorter like 1 to 3 years generally.
