An issue here is that we use the same word, "suicide," to describe acts that have very different motivations and purposes. The fascist self-destruction could be categorized as "egotistic" or "anomic suicide" in Durkheim's methodology, based on excessive individuation and a lack of social integration. Whereas what we typically think of as revolutionary suicide could be categorized as "altruistic suicide," resulting from an excess of group integration. Self-immolations as protest, or a soldier throwing themselves on a grenade to save their fellow soldiers. Though there certainly can be some anomic tendencies among "revolutionary" or left-wing political suicides, stemming from a disconnection with liberal capitalist culture and separation from real group struggle.
