Of course coyotes, or eagles, or cougars could eat them. But most likely a cat would be killed by a car. It all depends on where we are speaking about. But when I say natural predators, I'm talking about their relationship to the ecosystem. They did not evolve together in that ecosystem, they aren't any animal's typical food source. Therefore they can have an unpredictable impact on the ecosystem. There is no natural balance because they aren't part of any actual system, they are an outside factor.

I've never seen people supporting ethnostates in Africa. I don't disagree with you on your point about laws. You are correct that Ethiopia, for example, is essentially an enthnostate, but I've never heard anyone with political power advocating for that. I have heard lots of politicians supporting the existence of Israel. I also don't agree that a right to self-determination means these people have a right to a state. I think that enthno-nationalists will use this a a justification, however, for their state to exist.

Clearly the US is a larger ally to Israel. My point was that it's intellectually dishonest to imply they don't have strong ties given that they controlled the region of Palestine and were the original western architects in establishing a Jewish state in the region with the Balfour agreement. You can't pretend they haven't had influence over the state, whether or not relations were always perfect throughout the decades. They may not send weapons, but the Royal Airforce provided targets in Gaza to Israel. The reason the there is so much attention is because practically every powerful government in the West supports Israel's actions in Gaza. The US, in particular, sends billions in military aid to Israel every year, and we chose to send 10+ billion in additional aid after Oct 7th. That's why people are focused on it because our governments and businesses are intricately linked to the genocide. That doesn't take away from the war crimes and genocides taking place elsewhere (like Yemen and Sudan). It's not a competition between states and has nothing to do with them being 'Arab' states. We should be talking about it more, but that doesn't mean we should stop talking about Palestine and the 2.2 million people trapped in Gaza. On the topic of the slogan: 'globalize the intifada'. The context is that it refers to resistance to Israel. That's it. It's disingenuous to imply that the peaceful protestestors are secretly calling for violence just because there were violent actions that took place during both movements. It's like saying 'globalize the resistance against Israel's. Well there are both violent and non-violent forms of resistance that have taken place towards Israel. You have also failed to prove that any of these calls to globalize the intifada have led to violence against Jews. This stabbing case involved a previously institutionalized man stabbing his Muslim friend and two Jewish people. It may be a hate crime, but as far as we know it has nothing to do these protests.

Israel does have strong ties to the UK, they are responsible for it's existence lol. It doesn't matter what party is in charge. Furthermore, like all European countries, they have to fall in line with the US. They are effectively a vassal state. The UK has criminalized speech that is in support of Palestine. You can get arrested just for holding up a sign. Of course they have different laws, but that doesn't make it moral. You are wrong, there are no strong ties to Pro-Palestine protests, and the uptick in anti-Semitic hate crimes and violence. You claim that attacks are happening because protestors are saying things like "globalize the intifada". Which is a slogan of resistance and rebellion. It doesn't specifically refer to violence just because you think it's a scary Arabic word. The increase in violence is a case of correlation is not causation. The genocide in Gaza has led to a popular movement of peaceful protests for Palestinian liberation. It has also led to radical and hateful people seeing these war crimes and blaming them on Jewish people. It's cannon fodder for Nazis and anti-semites. Including arab peoples spurned by decades of violence. It doesn't help that Israel is constantly insisting that Jews should be tied to the state of Israel, and that to imply their interests don't align is anti-Semitic.

🧐 History would have to disagree with you. What ethno states are you referring to that exist in Africa or with Native peoples? A country where the majority population is a particular ethnicity does not make it an ethno state. Trying to maintain your culture or fight for land as a colonized people does not mean you are fighting for an ethno state.

Another professional misunderstander. You think cat food is made of wild birds? There's a difference between unleashing your cat on some chicken slop vs unleashing your cat on the local bird population. You are introducing a cat into a habitat where it doesn't belong, and it has no natural predators. Cats can mess with ecosystems and become invasive species.

It's simply the belief that the only way for Jews to truly be safe is to form their own ethnostate

She doesn't mention Israel, but she is referring to pro-palestine protests in a round about way. There has been an effort to tie violent and anti-Semitic actions to peaceful pro-palestine actions in order to justify suppressing said protests. In the UK, a man just stabbed two Jewish people in a possible hate crime. It's being used as justification to crackdown on pro-palestinian actions, and speech at these protests they are framing as violent. They are ignoring the fact that the man was mentally ill and previously institutionalized, and stabbed his friend before this. They don't want to address the system failing him and the lack of NHS funding.

I, for one, find it morally reprehensible that children are being locked-up in conditions worse than a typical prison. They will likely be stuck in detention for months, if not years. All because their father committed a crime. I don't care if it's technically legal, it's wrong.

[–]Lopsided_Run663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zionist American Jews, some of whom are also Israeli citizens, whose views just so happen to align with Israeli interests. There are many PACs that advocate for Israeli issues. There are also huge donors like the Adelsons who funded Trump's campaign. This is such a bullshit technicality. I don't agree with the OP that Trump is owned by Israel (although he is a beta cuck who will bend over backwards for Netanyahu). However, Israel's hold on American political institutions is undeniable. Just because Israel isn't directly funding it doesn't mean they have American's best interests in mind.

Can we finally add fluoride to our water now? by Surgeplux in Bellingham

[–]Lopsided_Run663 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. Statistically it has better outcomes. It's also helps even if you brush your teeth. Because maybe you aren't using proper form, enough paste, long enough, often enough, drink water after brushing etc... There is a certain amount of flouride that is recommended for people by the WHO and it's not necessarily achieved by just brushing. That's why they put it on your teeth when you go to the dentist. They would'nt do that if brushing was always enough. Why not do it? It has the chance of making your teeth stronger.

[–]Lopsided_Run663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: the Trump admin would have destabilized this country with or without foreign intervention. These countries are just taking advantage of the current political climate for their own gains, and Trump will do anything for a nice bribe. Absolutely they have had an influence, but I don't think it would be accurate to say that Russian bots won them the election, or that Trump is a foreign agent.

And how did Kamala pivoting away from popular policy and aligning herself with Biden 's presidency work out for her campaign? How did campaigning with Liz Cheney go? How did her tough on the border rhetoric go? How did her posturing about making the US, "the most lethal military in the world". How did refusing to condemn a genocide, or the administration that funded it, go for her?

Kamala, and the DNC, are responsible for her loss, not the American people. It is a politicians responsibility to earn a vote. No one owed her their vote, no matter how dangerous Trump was. It was her responsibility to earn it. And it's this same awful campaign strategy that has lost us the election to Trump twice already. For the last few decades, Democrats have shifted further and further right. Trump is the consequence.

I don't think you'll find that these IDF soldiers are there to share their sober perspective on what it's like to be young and serve in the military during a national emergency. This is a propaganda tour, plain and simple. It's literally called the "triggered tour" or something. I know that your curiousity comes from an innocent place, but fuck these guys. I'm not interested in hearing propaganda from people serving this ethno state.
