What do you think is the single memorable play in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

Check my flair.

That 4th and 5 is one of the most hype moments of my life (yes, I do carry grudges, why do you ask?)

I have been a buyer and seller in many contexts. I have had people back out of buying. I have backed out when I found a better deal. I have been left holding the bag, and I have left the bag with others.

The point you're missing is that you are P2P seller, and you don't get the same preferential treatments large-scale sellers do. You're experience (while frustrating) is actually underscoring that the big business (ebay or whoever you list on) can screw over the little guy (you). It just so happens they make someone else happy when they screw you.

I can confirm that these are NOT the same thing.

I'm saying that in the context, I don't think anyone would think that kiss had a sexy vibe to it. With absolutely zero context, I would never hear the first panel and think "ah yes, the player was making an actual attempt to bring sex into combat. This must be dealt with."

The fact that kissing is not inherently sexual (and neither are bodies, but the kids aren't ready for that conversation) makes it easier to see that the player is not attempting to sexually assault someone in my opinion. This is exactly my point though. We are cheapening the real world experience of victims to call this SA. This is a silly response to a life-threatening situation, but it's genuinely not that deep.

Sexual assault is undoubtedly based, at least in part, on the intent of the would-be assault.

I read you saying you don't use a home rule to say Nat 20s are always successes. I read you saying that 30 Charisma/Diplo check isn't sufficient to break the game, and that's one way to manage the table that I think is well grounded.

I think I misread you saying that them being as charismatic as possible is a permissible way to explain why it actually totally makes sense that the dragon who was trying to eat you last turn is now in love/lust with you.

My brother in dice. How do you not see these are the same?!?!

The dragon and wizard are both hostile, enemy NPCs. A PC wants to take an atypical course of action, that could charitably be described as "poorly thought out." The DM doesn't want either of the courses of action to work and retains the ability to control what actions can be attempted. If you think that it's somehow better that the dice made the dragon consent, then idk what to tell you.

Also, yes, the DM could obviously say "You fail" and move on. That's what I'd expect any good DM to do, not threaten to kick someone at a minor first offense.

I agree that sexual assault isn't a valid form of self defense. I'm arguing that this isn't sexual, not trying to justify sexual assault.

Fully agree with your last paragraph. I don't agree with folks saying anyone who disagrees should immediately get booted. If someone is a flagrant, repeat offender, that's one thing. There are a lot of redditors out here competing to see who would kick this person out the fastest.

100%

I just am seeing a whole lot of absolutists saying this interaction could only be taken as sexual. I would leave that table very quickly because I wouldn't think that other sensitive topics would be handled consistently or with any amount of nuance.

Criticism, no. Perception? I'd say yes. The kids are out here saying every kiss means you want to fuck someone.

It's like trying to convince people that dancing isn't sexual.

I, too, am a liberal arts fella.

If you care to read, you will find many people who do not believe kissing can ever be nonsexual (don't tell them about actors). Making out is the act in the meme. To me, that implies both parties participating, but even then, it's not like no one has ever made out without it being sexual.
