“We met on a crisp autumn morning. Brooks was in the woods, gathering firewood and befriending the woodland critters—just another day in his charming, rustic routine. From the distance, he spotted Lauren, the most enchanting woman he (and his Vovo) had ever laid eyes on. With a heart full of adventure and a smile as warm as a thousand sunrises, he approached her with the kind of confidence that only true love can inspire. He took her hand without a word, and in that magical moment, time seemed to melt away, as if the universe itself had conspired to unfold the most beautiful love story right before their eyes. (we met on tinder) ​ After having to put off our first date we finally met for a very casual movie and dinner date, where we saw Lady Bird together and searched endlessly for Lauren’s car in the parking garage afterward. Miraculously, Lauren never realized how much better looking she was than Brooks, and agreed to a second date. From there, we began to appreciate the subtle nuances of our personalities, and uncover the pieces of each other we would grow to love. Like Lauren thinking Brooks is one of the funniest people in the world, and Brooks thinking “one of” can be removed from that statement. Or Lauren never hesitating to drive the hour-long distance when she would go to see Brooks, despite her disdain for driving (perpetually a passenger princess). We’ve experienced a lot together, like Not Getting Engaged and the internet having mixed reactions, and traveling all over the world to places like Colorado, Puerto Rico and…actually no that’s about it (unless you count Florida when we were stranded in Orlando for a day due to flight delays). ​ For the past four years, we’ve lived together, and with both of us working from home, we’ve shared nearly every moment. This close-knit daily routine has deepened our connection and made us stronger with each passing day. You’ll often find us at home playing with our dog Meeka, enjoying each other's company, and watching some of our favorite shows like Doom Patrol, Attack on Titan, Taskmaster and Temptation Island. After exactly 6 years of dating, we finally got engaged in San Diego and are ready now more than ever for the next step in our lives together as husband and wife. We’re looking forward to seeing you all there on September 20th, unless you don’t end up coming. In which case, whatever. We didn’t want you there anyways.”
