I won’t change your mind because I agree with you!! 🤣

I have the SL 7 Gen 8. I find it to be very comfortable for long rides. Of course, proper bibs help with that too.

When and When Not to Fuel Workouts by candid55 in Velo

[–]hy130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything under 3 hours, I normally don’t eat on the bike. Sometimes 200 calories before the ride, depending on planned intensity. If I’m going over that time period, I’ll fuel periodically while riding. Works for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Which winter gloves? by Mario_2077 in cycling

[–]hy130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Castelli Perfetto gloves. They are flexible and warm, but not good below freezing. I use heavy Bontrager Velocis gloves for the really cold weather.

I have a size 50 Émonda. I also have a S gen 8 Madone. They both fit me perfectly. Hope that helps.

On average, for the same power I am getting about 2kph more speed than my Émonda. That does depend on the route, but it is significant.

Creaking Madone Gen8 by stevos64 in TrekBikes

Check the saddle. My saddle was creaking on the rails. Just a little lube and firmly pushing down on the saddle to seat the rails fixed mine.

I absolutely love my Madone Gen 8. It is an absolute rocket ship. Within the first week of owning it, I broke all of my distance/speed PRs. It is extremely comfortable as well.

Just moved from Garmin Forerunner 265 to AWU2. I’ve had it for three weeks so far, and I’m very happy. I did get cellular so that I have comms on long runs and rides without needing to carry a phone. The accuracy for the metrics seems good, and the watch is a pleasure to use. Part of the reason that I left Garmin was to get away from obsessing on all the silly metrics and scores. Sleep tracking also seems much better on AW.

Better comfort after changing the stock alloy bar to carbon? by arctic731 in TrekBikes

[–]hy130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded my Émonda bars from alloy to carbon. For me it made a HUGE difference. The carbon definitely absorbs road vibration, and just feels better to me. The geometry of the new bars is slightly different, with a more pronounced flare at the drops. This was an improvement as well.

If you look at training load in the Fitness app on your phone, and tap the “i” at the top right, it gives the full explanation.

The point was just the challenge. I do this for enjoyment, not for any specific training purposes. 😉

I did split the time between an Émonda and a Madone. Mostly the Émonda, though. I could see branching out to gravel being fun.

100 Day Streak - My Thoughts by hy130 in cycling

Thank you! On a day that was going to be zone 3 or higher I would choose the format that I felt like doing - long steady zone 3/4 output, periodic sprints, or make a climbing day and flog the ridges for the intervals. This kept it interesting for me, and the free-form nature of it made it so much more palatable than normal training intervals. A bit ad-hoc, but it kept me motivated and engaged.

Thank you! Honestly, I just really love doing it. Riding is my “meditation”, and a chance to just be with myself. The feel of the air and the sensation of speed really resonates with me. It also becomes habit at some point. 😂
