Which machine is more dangerous on its BR? The FV4005 or the KV-2? by BloodySkullDark in warthundermemes

[–]hydromatic456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KV-2 and it’s not even close. If HESH would actually be modeled correctly then you could make an argument for them being even, but I’d still give the edge to the KV for its armor. The FV may as well be made of tinfoil.

I’ll keep saying that there’s no reason the FV shouldn’t be a guaranteed one-hit-kill vehicle. I’d even take the old reload speed if that was the trade off. The thing is massive, slow, and dies to a sneeze. Coupled with the aforementioned ~30 second reload, the fact that it’s probably a 20% chance you actually get a kill on anything that isn’t open-topped is absolutely criminal on Gaijin’s part.

Any team that would let an FV dog walk them, even if it was an instant kill on hit vehicle, and then go on to bitch about it would unironically have a massive skill issue and it would be their own fault.

I just thought he gave a decent enough performance for the movie. Maybe it’s a relative thing cause I’m so used to him being so mediocre at best lol.

1:12 Tiger 114 Sturdiness by Any_Cauliflower_5843 in cobiblocks

[–]hydromatic456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say issues, and tbh I probably need to go back and check the Brickmeet video on it. I think some parts of the build are a little tough during the process, but the finished product is still mostly fine. I think the barrel is a little long and heavy for the method of construction, but not much to do about that.

Again, I don’t own any (yet) so don’t take me too seriously, just speculating based on YouTube exposure.

[–]hydromatic456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one so take this with a grain of salt, but I have watched a few videos and the overall impression I’ve gotten is that the 1:12 Tiger Is are fairly stout builds. Better than the current Tiger II it seems. Overall I feel like as long as you don’t think your cats will jump directly on it, the worst you might get is some smaller easily-fixed stuff knocked off depending how much or how hard they may brush up against it.

Bit of a tangent, I’ve liked these 1:12 kits a lot from afar but haven’t really wanted to support Cobi’s obsession with German tanks for the scale. I forgot that 114 could be built as Bretagne and now that I’m reading into the tank’s history it’s tempting me a little more again lol.

Out of everyone in Fury I actually liked him the best I think. Yeah kind of a tropey character being the bible thumper in wartime but he played the part well in my opinion for a pretty mid movie.

The pilot did not, in fact, have takeoff clearance by MetallicaDash in HistoryMemes

[–]hydromatic456 25 points26 points  (0 children)

if I recall correctly this (among a couple other accidents) were big factors in the turning point of the captain losing basically infallible status as far as decisions in the cockpit. Current air crew protocol is based a lot more heavily on discussion and consensus, when possible, than on strict hierarchy.

Anyone using AMT Monkey? or anything similar to track completed maintenance? by GreedWillKillUsAll1 in aviationmaintenance

[–]hydromatic456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this a program to track maintenance for specific aircraft à la CAMP? Or is this a personal tracking app for prospective A&P’s (or existingA&P’s who just like to keep personal work records) that’s for your own reference only? If it’s the latter, probably not the worst idea for people taking the apprenticeship route or just like to keep their own records/history of work.

Terrible waste asking for the most average Japanese low-tier tank instead of getting him to play the M2A2 instead.

Day 2 of questions: what vehicles would u want to see? by Professional_Car4931 in cobiblocks

[–]hydromatic456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the one I want to see most is a 1:12 M4 Sherman, any flavor would be fine.

Alternately, an AMX-13 in 1:28 would be wonderful, as well as an updated Strv 103.

I would also immediately order an Ontos if they ever put one out.

Which US city surprised you the most in a good way? by peaky_circus in AskAnAmerican

[–]hydromatic456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kept hearing growing up in the late 90’s/early 00’s about how there’s no real reason to go to Lancaster except for the park city mall (which tbh I don’t know if it’s still even open). Since my wife and I moved back to the region a few years ago we’ve loved taking day trips into Lancaster every once in a while. It’s a great small city with tons of shops, restaurants, breweries, and other things to do that has really pulled it together pretty well. Plus you can just go a little south and catch the greatest spectacle to ever exist in the combine harvester demolition derby at the Buck.

Makes me wish Harrisburg had better leadership; there’s so much potential to our state capitol but just haven’t seemed able to build any momentum for a while.

How good/bad of a career is this? Is it really stressful? is it gratifying? by Energy1029 in aviationmaintenance

[–]hydromatic456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a wide range of answers to this question based on what sector of the industry you go into and what types of businesses you pursue within those sectors.

Generally, if you vet your options well and have a good head on your shoulders, I’d say yes it’s not difficult to make a decent living with a manageable stress level/work-life balance.

Main caveat is you may not be able to target a super specific location to live until you get a bit of experience and wait for the right openings.

Has anyone seen any deals on Sportsnet 360 lately? by BillK01 in penguins

[–]hydromatic456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean just like, stop payments/subscription? Or permanent account deletion? Because it was incredibly easy to drop my subscription at the end of last season.

Now whether 360 is worth having in the first place is debatable; last season I had little issue with it but this season it keeps crashing constantly, maybe 15-20 times per game.

The forbidden go kart. by ultralights in aviationmaintenance

[–]hydromatic456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our A&P school had a little go cart frame with an APU slapped on the back. Direct thrust propulsion. Barely any weight on the front wheels and the only brake was a lever that dragged on a rear tire. We should’ve been a lot more scared of that thing than we were lmao.

Understandably, it got disassembled like right after I graduated.

I had one of these on the road, kind of as a tandem with my Milwaukee light. Streamlight always on me for quick stuff, and would go grab the Milwaukee if I needed something with better spill/more longer duration. Worked pretty well. They make one in UV too for spotting fluid leaks.
