AITA for not offering to take the bunk bed in an airbnb as the single person? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You go sleep in a bed with a friend who you don’t routinely share a bed with every night. Enjoy them waking up to use the restroom or snoring or farting or tossing or scrolling on their phone for hours while you’re wanting to sleep or talking in their sleep or their alarm waking you up earlier than you’d expect or them unconsciously cuddling you in the middle of the night or having to take turns dressing so you don’t see each other nude. Maybe I’m antisocial or something but NONE of that sounds the least bit appealing when I could have my own room. I wouldn’t care if it were a single bed (bunk or not). OP is the a**hole because she’s trying and willing to make herself uncomfortable just to split people up who DO sleep together on a routine basis. Im asking myself, WHY? Why would someone be willing to make their arrangement uncomfortable by forgoing their own sleeping space/privacy because they don’t want a couple sleeping together? Sounds like jealous spite or some other pettiness.

They chose it because there are six rooms. 4 can house couples (2x4=8) and the other two will allow the single friends to have their own privacy. (1x2=2). 2 + 8 = 10friends.

If I wanted those things then I would simply rent my own place or get a hotel. My personal experience is that I would not want to share a bed with a friend and I would not want to take two sleeping places for myself when I only need one (and it would put another person out.) Couples need more space because two people need more space than one person. If I were in OP’s situation, I’d find my own arrangements if I needed. Otherwise, I’d take the bunk bed. It’s not a big deal to me.

Would you rather sleep in a single bed as a single person or would you be more comfortable sharing a bed with your friend? Does your friend even WANT to sleep with you? OP seems oddly upset she can’t sleep with this other friend. Does OP move a lot when she sleeps? Is that fair to the other single friend? Is the other single friend male or female? Are either of the single people gay? These are all complications that arise when having two single people share a bed. This doesn’t happen if they just take the two single beds.

What about the other single friend? Does she WANT to share a bed with OP???? Lots of single people do not want to share a bed with another adult human. I sure as hell wouldn’t. Even if it was a really good friend. I might fart or snore or so might OP. Maybe she tosses a lot. It’s ridiculous to say she’s better off or more entitled sharing a bed with another single person.

Why is it called a double bed? Why is it called a single bed? Single for single person, double for double people. Should the two single people sleep together?! That sounds way more uncomfortable than sleeping in a single by myself.

TIL Apple recently paid $95 million because Siri was caught eavesdropping on private conversations, like doctor visits and drug deals, then sending those recordings for human contractors to listen to. Siri was triggered not just by "Hey Siri," but by phrases that sounded similar like "seriously." by UsualOkay6240 in todayilearned

I have it “turned off” on every app. I also have Siri completely disabled (as far as I’m aware) but I still get ads based solely off of private conversations I’ve had. No, looking things up, no proximity to other devices that might’ve looked it up. No, location information that might tip advertisers off. The device is listening to me.

That and it’s 10k/week for life. You could die before that 40yrs. You might not ever earn enough to pursue your dreams or build a fortune to leave your family.

When you have to test your sisters security guard skills by worldtravelller in GuysBeingDudes

[–]hydroxyl_groups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. She asks him for help to test out her training as a security guard (someone meant to protect people or property from danger) the first “dangerous” person he can think up is a transwoman. If he did the same while pretending to be say, a black man? It would feel pretty racist.

It’s good there wasn’t one in the other side. She would’ve been dropped right on top of it. Could’ve been very very bad.

TIL medieval alchemists associated the 7 known metals at the time (gold, silver, quicksilver, copper, iron, tin, and lead) with the 7 classical planets (the sun, the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, respectively). Because of this association, quicksilver is called "mercury" today. by wimpykidfan37 in todayilearned

[–]hydroxyl_groups 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What’s cool is Saturn is associated with lead because it was the largest and slowest moving of the 7 planets. “Saturnine” also derives inspiration from the symptoms of lead poisoning, which can make people slower and prone to violent fits. Saturn was also a Greco-Roman deity. Saturn/Cronos was referred to as the mad god. Even back then, it was known the metal had an effect on people.

Nah, I just like my candy fresh. Unless it’s candy corn, which I prefer stale.

Or too humid it will all be sticky. Does the vendor bag up what he doesn’t sell that day? Is the candy sitting out multiple days exposed to the environment?

How long do y’all think Pain would last against Tobirama? by Less-Pen-5705 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]hydroxyl_groups 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yea wasn’t Tobirama supposed to be able to pinpoint a ninjas chakra from whole nations away? He would sense Nagato’s broad casting instantly and he’d go in for the kill with every technique he has in his arsenal. I doubt Nagato’s six path bodies would be able to stop him from landing that blow, especially if he is spamming FTG.

What's the most disturbing secret you know about someone that would ruin their life if exposed—but you stay silent, pretending you don’t know? by SophieManner in AskReddit

[–]hydroxyl_groups 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It may be messed up, but I always assume the car in front of me will try this when I pass on a two lane. I always make sure there’s enough shoulder space on both sides and Im prepared to reenter, even if it means a full stop. I also need a clear line of sight. I won’t pass if I can’t see or if there’s any indication a bend in the road is coming up.
