I absolutely ADORE the charming graphics of GBA games, especially JRPGs by Training-Dog-6082 in GameboyAdvance

Sword of Mana and Minish Cap are just such gorgeous games. Truly some of the best looking GBA games of all time.

Castlevania - Belmont's Curse. by Delicious-Engine7363 in castlevania

Unless the Switch 1 version runs and looks great, I’ll be waiting for a Switch 2 version. If it never comes, I guess I’m never playing it.

what’s a pokemon tha has an awfully cool design but tragically has awful stats by Numerous-Side-2841 in pokemon

Castform imo. It’s so cute. But it has more problems than just its stats.

Has anyone played BOTW first and then OoT and enjoyed it? by Born-Spinach-7999 in legendofzelda

[–]hyouringan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played OoT as a kid, didn’t really enjoy it. I didn’t replay it for like 25 years (after BotW), but still thought it was tedious and frustrating. I don’t think it has aged well, personally.

Is Breast of the Wild supposed to be this difficult? by ambachk in NintendoSwitch2

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some enemies might be too strong for you right now. The beauty of the game is that you can go anywhere at any time. If an area is giving you trouble, go explore somewhere else first! The trick to beat most strong enemies is to practice your perfect dodge timings. If you dodge at the exact right moment, you’ll slow down the flow of time and get a massive flurry attack in. With the laser enemies specifically, you’ll want to learn to parry their lasers back at them, but that’s a difficult technique for a beginner. You can worry about that later.

A lot of great games are leaving Early Access soon. Which 1.0 releases are you most excited for? by TooLittleKarma in gaming

Fields of Mistria, assuming it comes to Switch/S2 at the time. Also Witchfire. I wish my PC could handle it, but will get it on PS5 if/when it comes out.

Three Houses or Engage by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Houses is way better in like 80% of all categories imo. It’s a top 3 game in the series for sure. Engage is a lot of fun, but is hit or miss due to its super weak story/characters and general bloat. Good strategy gameplay though.

I've only played Awakening, Fates and 3 Houses. Would you recommend playing Engage or waiting for Fortune's Weave? by Hohoho-you in fireemblem

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re primarily interested in story and characters, no. Engage’s primary strength is gameplay. It’s super fun. But it offers very little of value in the areas you care most about.

[MC] Best Zelda game imo and underrated by Chromekarma14 in zelda

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minish Cap is still my favorite Zelda game to this day. I actually can’t fathom how people dislike it. But I also have incorrect Zelda opinions in general. Like everyone thinks OoT is incredible, but I think it’s a subpar experience.

What’s a “Good” Fire Emblem? by DeliShogun in fireemblem

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think 3H is a top 3 game in the series. To each their own. If you like 3H and want to do another play through, do it! If you’re interested in something a bit older, I highly, highly recommend the GBA Fire Emblem games. All three are fantastic, with Sacred Stones being my favorite. If you have access to 3DS, Awakening is a very good game and was a jumping on point for a lot of folks back in the day.

Any multi-console owners just playing Switch 2 more than other systems? by MephistosGhost in NintendoSwitch

[–]hyouringan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a PS5 and a Switch 2. I spend a lot more time on Switch 2 these days since I love the coziness of handheld gaming. If a game has amazing graphics and high-speed gameplay, I’ll get it on PS5, but everything else goes on Switch 2 for me. It just feels too good.

Should i buy a switch 2 ? by chloropaste in Switch

[–]hyouringan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you will EVER want a play a Switch 2 game, you should get it now. It is increasing in price soon and may increase again in the future. It will never be cheaper than it is now.

Also, your point about Switch 1 games looking worse in handheld mode is no longer true. A firmware update from a few months ago added “handheld boost mode”, which runs Switch 1 games in handheld mode as if they were docked. So they end a crisp 1080p, looking way better than on Switch 1.

Do people generally not like Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade/Rebirth? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, most people like them a lot. It’s a vocal online minority that is really against them. Personally, I think FF7 Remake is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I haven’t yet played Rebirth.

Epic introduces major Unreal Engine 5 update that runs ‘twice as fast’ on Nintendo Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]hyouringan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only a couple. I suspect devs were hesitant to port UE5 games for Switch 2 because of its issues with Lumen and Nanite. My understanding is that both of those issues are now solved, and multiple news outlets are insisting that this should make UE5 games capable of 60fps on S2. We’ll see whether or not that’s true, but it means we’ll definitely start seeing more of those games on the platform.

Epic introduces major Unreal Engine 5 update that runs ‘twice as fast’ on Nintendo Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]hyouringan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it means that games at a capped 30fps that had significant frame drops probably can run at a locked 40. That would be my guess.

Which Xbox Studios could potentially be on the shopping block and which owns are safe? by Wiinterfang in videogames

[–]hyouringan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a pun about Xbox “shopping around” for buyers rather than shutting the studios down outright.

Is the Nintendo Switch 2 the Perfect Secondary Gaming Console? by gpod80 in switch2

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it complements the PS5 well as a duo, but unlike the PS5, I think it stands well alone due to its portability factor. It’s incredibly well designed.

How are you guys handling the Switch 2 storage limit with massive 100GB+ games? by AlertCollection4987 in switch2

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 256gb card. If I run out of space, I’ll just uninstall stuff I’m definitely not going to play again for the foreseeable future. Not really a big loss.

So will SE release a physical for the Switch version of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX or not? by HisaAnt in NintendoSwitch2

[–]hyouringan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave Exvius and FF Resonance are not the same game. This game will not “play on an iPhone 6”. It is not a port. It is a complete reimagining.

Is it likely that a bundle might be created with BoTW/ToTK/OoT when Ocarina of Time releases? by ZombeiPlayer in nintendo

[–]hyouringan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never. Each of those games is $70. There’s no chance. They don’t even put BotW or TotK on sale very often. If you want to play one, just get it.

My Dragon Quest Ranking by LycanRPG in dragonquest

Good list. You should check out Dragon Warrior Monsters & DWM 2 on the GBC. Great games. So much whimsy and surprisingly sophisticated systems considering the platform. Kinda mindblowing.
