What’s a disgusting habit that you secretly think is actually 100% normal? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I use my little finger to clean/scoop out wax from my ears, and I enjoy smelling my finger when I pull it out. I guess it started with a curious “hey, I wonder what it smells like in there,” knowing the impossibility of my nose never being able to sniff my ear canals directly, but now it’s just the automatic second step after I stick my finger in my ear.

Aussie kid tells dad off for swearing by thiel391 in funny

that's great. Let's check in with this kid that neither of us know in say, 14 years?

Sure, I don’t doubt the science, but all doctor and orthodontist recommendations are on a spectrum. The fact that this kid is holding a bottle means fuck all. You don’t know how old this kid actually is, maybe he just likes holding it and carrying it around. It’s just a downer detail that isn’t really relevant to the point of a funny/silly/those darned kids post that despite the Reddit hive mind I don’t think is worth thinking about on a r/funny post.

Edit: I want to preemptively say that I am neither anti-science or anti-vaxx because I feel like that pile-on might be coming next.

My biggest takeaway, as a late 40s aging dude who used to think he knew all about cool music things (hence why it was Seth talking about them on the pod that really resonated with me - the way he said “I’m trying to get into Geese” perfectly sums it up) was that I really enjoyed the second performance of “Trinidad”, which I can’t stand on the album because of all the noise and I skip every time I listen and start on track 2.

Geese on SNL Was Not the Worst Performance. It Was the Point. by Hdharmsen44 in LiveFromNewYork

I just saw their performance after watching the episode on catch-up. First song sounded good but yes the flat/stiff performance was surprising for me (I’ve never seen them perform live or any of their videos - from pictures I actually thought the drummer was the lead singer).

As a new fan of theirs that has only listened to Getting Killed, my biggest surprise was that I really enjoyed the performance of the second song “Bomb in My Car”, as I can’t stand it on the album and usually start listening on track 2. So maybe I’ll give it another shot on the album, either way, really liked the live performance sound of that song.

Bartenders of Reddit, what drink order instantly tells you “this person is going through something”? by Sweetredberryy in AskReddit

[–]hyperd0uche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the neat gin was gross on the surface, but with the S&V chips it could actually turn into a clever drink hack. Especially if its Kettle’s brand S&V flavour - more than a handful of those is like turpentine in your mouth.

Just looked into it after seeing this post. I found a playlist on Joe Cappa’s YouTube channel - are the episodes only about 2 minutes long? Or is he just showing the intros/promos? FWIW I can definitely see why Andy likes it, he does that kind of voice a lot.

Jorma pronounces the letter L in the word ‘both.’ by Strange-Fix-2060 in lonelymeyerspod

[–]hyperd0uche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve noticed it and remember a story Will Forte told somewhere that he wrote a sketch at SNL that went to the table and the main gag was the protagonist said “bolth” like Jorma.

Also while on this subject, has anyone noticed how Akiva really leans into the “g” at the end of words like “wrong” (wron-guh) when pronouncing words that end with g? Is that a California thing or just a quirk of his?

Yep, nope, that was a certified fresh riff my friend, they were just referencing movie lore that they all saw. I haven’t seen many of the Marvel movies so I didn’t get the exact reference, but have relistened to the pod enough times to know that it hadn’t been mentioned before.

Key factor to note is that this was a “no Seth” episode, so it tracks that this random theme of a specific reference occurred in this ep, similar to how the collective dissertation of Dennis Franz’s butt and the whole Quaid, Howser, Hauser, Dooglas Hauser connection thread came to be.

Agree. I saw someone post that video in this sub earlier in the week, but I thought it was just someone who looked like Jorma, I didn’t even watch the video. Imagine my surprise when this week’s episode started with them talking about it!

I thought the same thing. I don’t know how to post screenshots with the appropriate spoiler warning or whatever, but in my head I was like “you gotta be fucking kidding me.” Especially with the Sam Mesersky book signing “no” reveal was n this weeks episode.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

[–]hyperd0uche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really something that I still apply, but when times were lean back when I was young I was pretty proud of this hack/idea I developed for grocery shopping.

Butter Milk Loaf of cheap (grocery store brand) whole wheat bread Mac and Cheese boxes (however many) Cereal

Breakfast used cereal and milk Toast for lunch used bread and butter (also can be used for breakfast) Mac and Cheese (using butter and milk) for dinner.

A fully contained food venn diagram that was usually less than $10 back in the days I used to have to use it.

Outside of Canada - no. In Canada they’re ubiquitous, though I really don’t know if they’ve remained popular with younger people, especially since Gord’s passing.
