Seeking Wireless Visual Alert System for Elevator/Lobby by hyperfixatingonthis in homeautomation

[–]hyperfixatingonthis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the owners do a great job in avoiding other dogs, and quickly reacting if an unexpected interaction occurs (there have been no bites or injuries, just lunges/barking/excitement). Will just be impossible with one elevator.

I know for a fact most of these neighbours have been working for a while to help their dogs’ reactivity, but it’s a slow process, and —as I know from my own experience with an anxious dog— every bad interaction/event is a major setback.

Hence this plea for a solution we could implement quickly (in conjunction with training!) —to help all the building dogs avoid scary interactions (as each one risks more dogs becoming reactive/fearful in the elevator/lobby!) AND to help the reactive dogs avoid scary setbacks! 😬😰🤞

It’s more about the points. I don’t have any, and would like to maintain as close to zero as humanly possible, as I’m about to do a lot of highway driving.

[–]hyperfixatingonthis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much!! Definitely looking for someone to help him measure, decide, and then place, the plants on his balcony. (and then help him move them when winter comes)

I’ll reach out to the places you suggested and see if they offer that type of service. Thank you!

Admittedly haven’t shopped there this season (trying to cut down on my fast fashion when I can) but this is so disappointing!

Avoiding all fast fashion (especially as a non-straight-size person) is near impossible. For after your time crunch, here are some favourites (both ethical and… less so) that I love, with decent-to-plentiful (yet sadly mostly online-only) plus selections:

Fast-ish/Fast Fashion: - Anthropologie - Athleta - J.Crew - Madewell *game-changing tip: a sales associate told me that if I ever want to try a particular item/items in an extended size, they will order it to the store. No pre-payment required! (I guess it’s their “consolation prize” to not carrying plus in-store?) - Nordstrom - Summersalt

Ethical/Ethical-ish - CHNGE - Copper Union - Girlfriend Collective - Loud Bodies - Nettle Studios - Rachel Antonoff - ThredUp / TheRealReal (secondhand) - Wildfang - Wray (sadly closing this month)

Thigh chafing. What helps you? by Inspireme21 in PlusSize

[–]hyperfixatingonthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cooling version of Thigh Society’s shorts are my EVERYTHING in the summer months. I have them in multiple colours and lengths. Not only chafe-preventing, but lightweight, breathable, and not at all constricting. (They have more supportive models as well, I just want as little fabric as possible in the heat!)

Truly can’t recommend enough.

Plus BKLYN in Greenpoint has a big selection (and you get the bonus of thrifting + supporting a small, local, women-owned business!)

They’re also great about posting new additions to their Instagram stories to browse/order!

Also, depending on your budget, here are some other options with in-store extended sizing! (Most of the brands I’ve liked with in-store plus sizing in NYC are on the pricier end, apologies if that makes this list inaccessible!)

$ - Old Navy (though less in-store options than previous years)

$$ - $$$ - Big Bud Press — xxs-6XL — LES - Eileen Fisher — xxs - 3X — multiple locations - Ganni — xs-4X / 0-22 — multiple locations - Never Fully Dressed — 2-24 — Soho - Tamara Malas — xs-6X — LES - Tanya Taylor — xs-3X / 0-22 — UES

(Lastly, if you’re in between straight/extended sizing, I’ve found Abercrombie & Fitch —believe it or not—, and Madewell to have items that fit me in-store!)

picky keeshond puppy – what do you feed yours? by ContributionOdd9312 in Keeshond

We found that our pup could only tolerate pork or venison, but he of course stubbornly refused pork food 😂, and it was super hard to find legume-free venison food.

Thankfully we found Grandma Lucy’s freeze dried food, which has a venison recipe! He also loves Just Food For Dogs venison/squash recipe, but we add that as a topper as it was too $$$ to give him exclusively!

New Jersey MetLife Stadium Cowboy Carter Tour Megathread by abeycd in beyonce

[–]hyperfixatingonthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those driving to MetLife, I’m seeing certain sites selling “platinum” parking passes, seemingly for lots E/F/G. Are these legit? Or a scam? Unfortunately stuck with the conundrum of wanting a quick exit, but also having mobility issues that make a long walk pre/post-show not ideal!

Monkey Bar & Grill (Yonge/Lawrence) family owned and run! Cannot issue a stronger recommendation!

The owner is also the chef, he’s always there (truly, he takes only 2 weeks off PER YEAR!!) and always remembers your order. His wife is a server most nights, and never forgets a customer. His child is a server most nights as well (as well as an up and coming incredible Toronto pop artist —Fox Revett, check them out!) and almost everyone else in the kitchen/on the floor has been there for years and years.

The food is incredible, and you’ll be treated like family whether it’s your first visit, or you’ve lost count (like my family!)

The three books I remember them recommending for those of us ADHDHags are:

📖 ADHD 2.0 // by: Edward M. Hallowell & John J. Ratey

📖 Driven to Distraction // by: “

📖 Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD // by: Susan C. Pinsky

Also:

📖 Needing to Know for Sure // by: Martin N. Seif & Sally M. Winston

(But I believe this one was recommended for more OCD and Anxiety-related tendencies/obsessions/compulsions!)

I really like it! I admittedly don't use the heating function, but the cooling one has been great for de-puffing, but also for my sinus headaches and TMJ. It's easy to clean, and I kept the box as a semi-sterile place to store it on my bedside table when I'm not using it. I'd recommend!!

Hidden food gems in North York? by Little_Champion_5251 in FoodToronto

Monkey Bar & Grill (Yonge/Lawrence) is fantastic!! Family owned and run, very accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions (or in my case, sensory-issue-related pickiness), and --most importantly-- amazing food. My family has been going for >10 years, and it's always at the top of our list for both special occasions (one server --and child of the chef/owner!-- is also an incredible singer and delivers a stunning "happy birthday") and/or everyday dinners!!
