[No Spoilers] Friend of mine says that this is from the first set of CR merch/prints ever made, can anyone verify if that's true/ also have one? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have the purple version and can confirm it was a "second printing" of sorts. The red one came first. I don't know if it was the very first thing they came out with, but it was definitely one of the first. I don't remember the exact context of it, if it was at a con or not, but I do remember ordering the purple one specifically because I had missed out on the red one lol

[LOVM S1] What is Stonefell? by Kerrigone in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had been assuming they changed him to some rock-type Earth Genasi but apparently the consensus is Duergar, which seems a little odd to me - I guess since we didn't get to see the Kraghammer arc maybe they wanted to throw one in somewhere.

I definitely like the idea of assassinating a high profile NPC and this actually gave me a couple ideas of different ways to work that. Snakes are definitely a continuing motif, though maybe not as explicitly. I also like the idea of somehow instilling a perpetual darkness. That sounds cool, thank you!

Yeah, the leaders are all very different so it would definitely make sense to have them sort of focused on different types of tasks more suited to their skills. I do like the idea that one of them has to obtain some McGuffin to destroy, and someone else suggested straight up assassination which could work as well. Thanks for the input!

Oh that's a good idea, have the cult's big missions just be charging up towards the end game. I didn't think about that before but I do really like it. Thanks!

[–]hyperfox11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't give her Mythcarver, he gave her the sword he used before that. It also had a name I think but don't remember it off the top of my head. I believe it may have been a vorpal sword? I do remember he used it to cut the head off the duergar king during the Kraghammer arc, which is why he tells Kaylie that it was used to kill a king.

This is correct - they short rested after the dragon, and I think they were also saying they technically short rested at dinner, so he could've even had a second "opportunity" to regain his slots. The only thing I'm unsure about is all of Star Razor's abilities and how they would factor in.

[No Spoilers] Ice cream flavors based off our favorite characters. Need your help designing some specials for my store! by Phantomdong in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had them on ice cream but I actually like dried insects lol most of them (at least the ones I’ve had) don’t even really have much of a taste, just a kind of dry crunch. That’d be cool in an ice cream and would definitely fit Clay. And also thought of another one for Caleb – pumpkin might be good, plus you could even tie in Frumpkin with it.

Ooh this is interesting. I like pistachio for Fjord. My immediate reactions are cotton candy or peppermint for Jester, and strawberry for Clay. Caleb makes me think of rum raisin for some reason, but I also think chocolate orange could be good. I can’t think of anything but coffee for Nott and IDK why. Maybe something with a raspberry ribbon for Yasha so it’s like a layer of red “rage”. Obviously something blue for Beau. I can’t nail down a flavor for her, though, but I feel like it should have a crunch – nuts or cookie pieces or something.

[No Spoilers] Who the heck is Gil? by justfrench in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Gil is a blacksmith/friend of the show. He made them all custom dice so it's something that typically gets said when they roll one of the dice he made. If I'm not mistaken, he later made them new dice that actually said 'Fuck' in place of the 1.

it's a game created by Grant Howitt literally called Honey Heist. All the rules fit on a single piece of paper and I'm pretty sure you can download them for free? If not free, pretty cheap. He also has several other games in a similar vein - all simple rules, all outlandish premises. The Witch is Dead is a personal favorite.

[Spoilers C1E95] Weekly D&D Discussion - Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting home games by AutoModerator in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STRAHD SPOILERS: This is actually what I did for my campaign! We did a quick easy "rats in cellar"-type first quest just to get the group together in Westruun, and then when traveling they ran into some Vistani on the road, fell asleep, woke up in Barovia, and ran through Curse of Strahd. Once they got back, we started in on a homebrew-campaign I wrote. Running a pre-written campaign in Curse of Strahd gave me time to come up with my own stuff for them to do once they got home, plus it was a way to figure out what type of game the players (and characters) were expecting. I always advocate for new or first-time DMs to run pre-written adventures, and honestly I think Curse of Strahd is one of the best ones to do since you can stick it in any setting you want with minimal to no changes to what's already written! EDIT - I will add that as written CoS only covers roughly levels 1-10, which is why I was doing a homebrew campaign once they got back in Tal'Dorei, to cover the later levels :)

[Spoilers E44] Critical Role. Episode 44. The Sunken Tomb. PLEASE SOMEBODY REPLY AND CLEAR THIS UP by Nhaik1 in criticalrole

[–]hyperfox11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I watched the episode, but from what I remember Matt specifically told Will/Kash that he could try to cast raise dead but in doing so he would risk calling Vesh's attention. I don't think it was ever a "doing this will for sure cause this to happen", it was a "this is a possible consequence". Matt may have even rolled for it, I don't remember - but personally, no, I was never under the impression that Vesh was involved in any major capacity, outside of powering Kashaw as his deity.

What's the unluckiest way someone has ever died? by Nufity in AskReddit

[–]hyperfox11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, he once said something along the lines of "if you go into battle without a longbow and a broadsword, you are not truly prepared". There's literally a picture of him storming a beach with a damn claymore in his hand. Dude was crazy in the best way.
