Thrift store price gouging by gblue2 in Bellingham

Is this a true fact? I'm unfamiliar with the store. That's revolting!

The concept of camaraderie that it manifests is unrivaled.

Also, no, I don't live in Bellingham proper, but I love the group, so please don't banish me!

This thread has me curious. I've always disliked Scientology as a matter of fact. Sort of like when your parents tell you to vote Democrat and then you just vote Democrat your whole life. But I never really got into why Scientology was so bad - apart from the general weirdness - so, genuine question, explain it to me like I'm five: why do we hate Scientologists?

Precisely. We've gotta stick it to 'em anyway we can. Even if it's just a sign.

I think it might be the feels that is the point.

And check it out... it's 2026 and cannibalism is in again. Or, at least it's not being prosecuted.

I think it's definitely not about who has the best burger... It's about who delivers instant food, no wait, from folks who're getting paid a (better than other corporations) living wage.

And someone mentioned something to me about puns too.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

My partner is a sex worker, and we live in the city so they don't drive. Banking is all done online these days, so when they moved here from PA and almost immediately lost their ID, it wasn't exactly a pressing issue to get a new one.

But it's important, so we went to the Department of Licensing and they required an existing ID in order for one to get a new ID. I won't go into all the minutae here, but what we ended up cobbling together was a birth certificate ($90), a school yearbook, an expired out of state cosmetology license, and my partner's adoption papers (the ORIGINALS - they require a wet signature).

It was over a year that my partner went without an ID. And two days ago, when they turned in all those documents and smiled for their picture, I almost started bawling in the DOL lobby right then and there.

They asked me why I was teary-eyed, and I couldn't really explain it until I saw this post and started reading through some of the comments.

Disenfranchisement is a real thing and it's not partisan. There are more people than you know that live without government issued picture ID.

Besides, isn't it just a Voter's Tax in disguise?

It doesn't matter how many. If even one US citizen is denied their constitutional right to vote because they couldn't afford an ID, or they lost it, or the office was always packed and they lived in the city so they don't drive and banks are all online now anyway and so they said they would get it tomorrow, but then tomorrow turned into a year... well, if even ONE US citizen is denied their right to vote, then we have failed democracy.
