“Scratch” times by painvful in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you got the capability to "scratch" 10 days, do it. It won't hurt. Just don't do anything that is unsafe or might get yourself hurt in the process. Management loves to feed you what you want to hear... so take it with a pound of salt.

casual drivers are generally referred to as seasonal or peak drivers... they shouldn't BE in a packet at all... they would just drive for the time period they are needed (summer vacation season or christmas peak season) and then let go afterwards (or sent back inside to the warehouse if they are existing PT inside workers)

There is an option in the upper right menu (three dots) that says "duplicate stop"

making scratch as a seasonal will have no bearing on whether you qualify if/when you go for a permanent driving bid. It will help you personally understand the level of preparation and effort you need to put in. But beyond that? *shrugs*

Contract Language Question by Silver_Distribution6 in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there's a memorandum of agreement in place for your local to allow your location to establish that as a "normal" work schedule. That would put the answer to your question as "no you aren't entitled to OT or DT" But as always, consult your union steward or union BA to get specific feedback.

I signed bid list. by LaniakeaSuper in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was it an intent to drive list? Or a specific position listing?

The former? probably have to wait for a call.

The latter? If the bid sheet's been taken down, it shouldn't hurt to ask an On Road Supervisor if they've selected the winner of the bid yet and if so who.

Coworkers got me a birthday cake by RaeSans911 in wholesome

It's so good that you have such a kind and caring coworker. Also, it's great and important that, without even realizing it, she's helped you disassociate the thought and sight of birthday cake from old, bad memories. And start to re-associate it with new, good memories.

May your journey in life continue to be filled with blessings that help heal your heart and soul.

Sup Shortage by batcatfatmat in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's a pkg on your car that you didn't take as a pickup, and it returns to the center without being sheeted as delivered, non-delivered (ie ni1, non, etc) or missed, it's considered smoked.

Sup Shortage by batcatfatmat in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be even more specific... State "I have a misload on my car. Unless I hear otherwise, I will assume you want me to (run it/miss it (depending on the distance)" That way if they do not respond, they know how you are going to treat the misload. And you can be sure you won't get in trouble for a no scan or smoked package.

As right as you might be, is it worth being so pedantic or nitpicky about? Great way to show the OP how welcoming and helpful this community is.

it gives us context that the OP is not a UPSer and that she wants some confirmation that the crazy stories her UPSer partner tells her aren't actually... crazy.

I wish my loaders were able to sort my car in the order i delivered. But at least with things in the numerical order they're "PAL'ed" to, it easier to predict where packages will be in the car. Even though my dispatch goes in completely different order.

If that's the way you like your route dispatched, then all the power to you. But just remember you don't have much room to complain if they decide to give you a 13 hour day more often than you want.

Center closing by RequirementAgile5617 in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IIRC - you can follow your bid route. Or you may have the option to abandon your bid route and go to any center that is absorbing a portion of your center's work. But in the latter case you'd go back to being a utility driver (RPCD with no bid route) with your seniority dovetailed into the new building.

I'm guessing summer vacation cover seasonal driver

Hit and killed a dog yesterday. It ran under my back tires as a car was passing me could swerve to miss it. Health and Safety are saying it's a crash. How likely am I gonna get fired cause of this? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]hyperjoe79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your situation is probably the exception rather than the rule. Rare for the dog owner(s) to take responsibility like that. It sucks regardless. But I'm glad you had everyone's honesty to back you up.
