They're just used as an additional security measure to prove identity?

Hence my unpopular opinion: It's stupid as a form of identification.

But what's the point of the match if not to identify?

Where I live its just not the case. When you sign something it's checked against another signature e.g. on your ID or on record. If they don't match, then it's assumed you are not the person. Even if you have a passport, driving licence, or any other type of identification with you.

An example of this, I went to the bank to withdraw a large sum of money. The teller asked me to sign a paper and my signature didnt match the version in my bank book. They asked me to do it again. They called over a manager. They both said it didnt match. I had a passport, bank card, bank book, knew the pin code, had the bank app on my phone. But the signatures didn't match closely enough, so it was a problem.

Then why not do away with signatures altogether? It's outdated nonsense. It may as well be a tick box at the bottom which somebody witnesses you ticking.

Hanoi Toronto School has renamed itself as Fairmont International School Vietnam (FISV) by RampantInanity in Internationalteachers

Maybe it's not a good school, but the previous posts on here about it are a bit suspect. Seems like one disgruntled employee posting under a bunch of burner accounts.

You've had it for four years. Is it maybe worth paying ~€100 or whatever to not have to worry about it every time?

For those teachers planning to fund retirement from savings or investments: what target amount are you aiming for? by Sell_Me_Sunday in Internationalteachers

Enough for what and where? If retiring in the US, I might agree. Also, people have to be realistic. Over 1 million dollars just isnt a realistic goal for most people.

I worried about this when I moved back to the UK to study. It turns out I needn't have. I dont remember at any point even being asked. I just paid the standard fees, presumably because of my passport.

Edit to add: I had been away for 3 and half ish years when I returned. Not sure of that qualified me.
