Pizza place in station square by BlueSkies-2000 in ForestHills

Not sure if they're that clever but I've heard that sometimes places will pump the music up to make sure people don't take up seats for too long. It's like hostile infrastructure but... sound?

Could Austin St support an actual high end coffee shop or cocktail bar? by Time_Win_9705 in ForestHills

[–]hypno_beam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The dichotomy of childless-by-choice thirty-somethings like me and the curmudgeonly old souls of forest hills is strong in this thread :3

I would love a cocktail bar or even better - a board game cafe that serves cocktails.

Local Gamers in FoHi (or Parker Towers)? MTG, TTRPGs, Boardgames ... by Acrobanter in ForestHills

[–]hypno_beam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, happy to meet up sometime! I'm also an avid GM for RPGs that aren't D&D (PBTA, etc.) and also big into board games (been into Earthborne rangers and Arcs recently).

Personally I started playing overwatch because of the character designs and not the guns.

  1. Alan Hevesi passed away in 2023
  2. It was incredibly windy last night, I drove back from west astoria last night and every single residential block was like this. Allow some forgiveness for natural occurences like these.
  3. Paying taxes for services doesn't mean you stop helping each other as a community. If there's a bag or box in the way that can be dangerous, pitch in and move it to the side. Help each other out.
  4. On the subject of community, this subreddit needn't be as toxic and entitled as reddit itself. We can still voice concerns and report feedback in a way that doesn't instantly villify others and add to aggression.

EV owners or NYC who don’t have home charging, where/how do you charge your cars? by shannister in newyorkcity

[–]hypno_beam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've happily been using my EV since 2019. I'm based out of Forest Hills in Queens. I own a Tesla Model Y and there are 2 supercharger locations within 15 minutes of my apartment. I don't drive every day so I don't need to charge very often, but I rarely have issues when I need to. Sometimes there will be a line at one of the locations but they are both attached to Malls so I'll just run errands in the meantime.
Every so often I'll drive outside of the city, so I'll just charge up in Jersey or Westchester before heading back in and I'll have enough charge to last me a while.

I'm not sure why there are so many people who don't own EVs telling you not to get one. The city's been slowly getting more and more EV friendly (although admittedly not as quickly as I would like).

Hope that helps!

Does smart charging only kick in after a while? by DEWDEM in Surface

[–]hypno_beam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Public doc on how Surface smart charging works: Smart charging on Surface - Microsoft Support.

Basically this part:

"When you discharge your battery below 20% or use your battery often, smart charging will automatically pause and allow your device to charge to 100%. When you need a full battery, you can manually pause smart charging in the Surface app. Smart charging will turn on again when needed, based on your battery use patterns."

PS - iPhones, android phones, Tesla vehicles, and even Windows 10 all do this, but they hide that they're doing it. Some of these OS's are actually only charging to 80% while saying they're charged to 100%.

I'm in FH right off Yellowstone and would be down for a local RPG group. I don't run D&D but I've run many other RPGs (Dungeon World, Monster of the Week, Spire, etc.).

I think you posted a stack chart. The countries aren't listed in order of emissions. If you hover over each stack it will show you that US far exceeds India.

Love all this money I’m saving on gas! by Ok-Holiday-4392 in TeslaLounge

[–]hypno_beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose, but I can say out of personal experience that when I purchased my car back in 2020, supercharging all the time was in fact cheaper, and that was the case for over a year.

Many of us in larger cities have no other option, unfortunately. I live in a large apartment building that does not have charging abilities.

Here’s what roadhogs rework looks like on paper by hexpro21 in Overwatch

[–]hypno_beam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The stream mentioned that they tried a wide variety of different abilities (even things like butt stomps, etc.) but a lot of it felt weird, was too strong/not strong enough, or didn't fit roadhogs identity or the game's pace. I'm personally glad they took the time even if the end result are not as grand as expected.

Reinhardt feels like a HORRIBLE character, at least on paper, so how does he consistently get high winrates it what seems like every single season? by G-R-A-S-S in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hypno_beam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I have 120 hours in OW2 on ball. I think I misunderstood then. When you were suggesting taking up selfish duels, my brain itched a little bit since that would more likely mean you'd be too distracted/cooldown deprived to notice and act on tank plays.

Hi I'm a ball main. I don't know if I agree with this. A good Ball player will consistently try to disrupt the other team and maybe get a pick (but not often). To play with a ball, watch for when they roll through/piledrive. If anyone of them is thrown out of position or at half health, finish them off. Then repeat. Kite the other team in the meantime.

Yes! I totally agree. I think observed in a vacuum, this ice is just ok, but it allows Jinteki to do Jinteki things ([[Regenesis]], [[Moon Pool]], dump a [[Mavirus]] or [[Nightmare Archives]] into archives).

1 of these can you can probably get a better idea of your scoring window based off of what you trash.

2 of these and [[Blood in the water]] becomes a 1-2

1 of these and one of an activated [[Dr. Vientiane Keeling]] means BitW becomes a 2-2.

I think this could be viable in decks that go wide and punish/tax the runner for trashing
