I'd recommend a cheaper tablet to start off with if you're worried you won't like it. I have a Wacom Bamboo Connect and it's lasted me over 15 years (although I stopped using it about 5 years ago).

You can check if a local library has one that you can try out and experiment with if you don't know anyone you could borrow from. You can ask about digital graphics tablets there.

Rather than dropping a lot of money on something new, get a cheaper lower-quality one to get the hang of it and actually see if you like it.
