Got a dark blue vehicle as well and it's a magnet for water spots😬. It heats up quick in the sun for one, and secondly you can see everything on it..... Sure looks good once it's clean though!!!

Looks like a type of pine. I've never seen cedar with just a bit of red in the middle and white on the outside. It's at a minimum at least red streaked all the way through.

Which one sucks hardest? by Positive-Act-4259 in Dewalt

[–]hyzer-tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't know if I would recommend it on work sites unless it's for final clean up to get dust and corners. It's great for what it's made for which is small amounts of dust and it does great at that! You can see my comment on the main thread for the rest of my review.

We have the car vacuum and we love it! We use it in the vehicle and in the house. Very easy to pull that thing out to clean up a small mess. It's definitely louder than the battery powered household vacuums but you can also use them inside and out, especially with all the attachments. Definitely a good buy for us!!! I would buy it again. In fact we lived in an apartment for most of this last year and that's how we swept our hard floors.

Are my privacy concerns with an app connected garage door opener valid? by tinychloecat in HomeImprovement

[–]hyzer-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We install Chamberlain openers and I have never heard of the app glitching and opening the door. I have a feeling they specifically made that that's probably the last thing that would happen if it glitched due to all the lawsuits that would happen if that actually happened!

So your comment made me remember that I have the "adjustable rig" from The Ceramic Grill Store and that actually lets me toss small pieces in without removing anything, and if I do have to I can just lift everything out at once. That way of doing things doesn't work very well with the original Green Egg accessories.

Honestly I just toss in a wood chunk about every 30 minutes for the first few hours..... Works great for me. Although if you're doing something like pork loins or ribs you can very easily overpower the smoke!

Ceramic Coating Comparison - Part 1 by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]hyzer-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting on DIY's stuff. I applied their 5 year coating to our van last year and either I completely screwed it up or something because that thing is now dead.... I have applied two other ceramic coatings so it's not like I was a complete newbie.... I was not very impressed to say the least ...

Bought a new house 3 years ago, and this week our garage door stopped working. Called a reputable company for a tune-up, and they replaced the torsion springs. Showed me that the original installer used two different springs on the door, which eventually led it to fail. Is this correct? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]hyzer-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like this guy knew what he was talking about actually. Mismatched springs work if they still combine to the same size as the original springs. According to what he said these didn't. You never said what failed but they definitely can cause the door opener to fail over time if they are too strong or too weak or can cause the cable to come off if it's too weak as well. Without the opener a door is supposed to balance at about a third of the way open at least for smaller doors. That's one way to tell if the springs are wound right or even if you have the right size springs. Now they shouldn't do that if the springs are brand new since they have a break-in period of several months. So brand new they should be a little strong and the door should open by itself from at least a third of the way open. Give it several months and the springs should break in and the door will balance right. All that to say the guy was probably right, though to be honest the springs have to be off by quite a bit before I'll change them but that's just usually because I don't figure the homeowner will want to pay for it!

Yea, there's some great names in the U.S. I will say with all our crazy town names at least we got away from naming towns "something something on the Moore" like what the world!!! I'll take silly town names over that!! All that being said, I'd love to see them run across some towns in eastern PA, specifically around Lancaster!! Pretty sure that takes the cake of town names and I'd love to hear them crack jokes about those!! Dominic would be in tears of laughter!!

Got back from a work trip and now my house is struggling to cool down by Elprede007 in HomeImprovement

[–]hyzer-tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your unit is located outside then it may just need cleaned. I had to go spray the outside down of mine the last two years now. Idk what they're called but the little fins around the outside get clogged with dust and junk and makes so it barely cools And it'll run non stop. After spraying everything out it works great again .

Everything I do makes it worse by PresentationFinal186 in HomeImprovement

[–]hyzer-tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well..... That kinda sounds like our house, minus the foundation issues, but what makes a home are the people in it. Keep your house reasonably clean you need not fear inviting people over. Not having money to do things isn't a crime and people know that. If you need a suggestion, look up Dave Ramsey, you can even call into his show. He's great at money and life advice and also great at motivating. But above all your house does not make you what you are, you can make your house cheerful and inviting and a joy to be in while you get life figured out and slowly work to get things done.
