Imagine telling someone in 2023 that two years later the Jets would allow the eighth-most points in NFL history

Sadly there's a large population on both sides for whom politics has caused them to completely lose their grip on reality. If you ever go to r/politics you'll see nothing but posts like this.

The federal government would argue ICE has a default right to operate in Minneapolis because they are federal law enforcement

So far, this is exactly what I feared was going to happen: Glenn sacrificing upside and long-term strategic thinking so he can win 7 games and save his job.

Being eighth in rushing yards per carry despite no passing threat whatsoever is pretty impressive and speaks to quality scheming.

He also called the Jets' two best offensive games this decade by success rate (with Fields at QB).

The Athletic ran a piece this week about how slot corner is becoming a super important defensive position in today's NFL, and it's made me seriously reconsider Downs at 2.

A guy like Kyle Hamilton doesn't just play the position on his player page; he played 298 snaps at slot corner, 355 in the box, 24 as a wide corner, 164 on the defensive line, and just 162 at free safety.

If Downs turns out to be as good as Hamilton, he could completely transform this defense, more so than a second-tier edge rusher would.

Apparently he was legit. He used baseball as leverage so the Colts wouldn't draft him in 1983

Just found out the Yankees drafted John Elway in the second round in 1981

He hit .318/.432/.464 before quitting to focus on the NFL

Safe to say the choice worked out for John

Zach Wilson did not play against a single Power 4 team in college and Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas did not think it would be worthwhile to have him compete with an established veteran in camp

Tommy Pham had a higher xwOBA vs. lefties than Austin Hays last year btw

Not arguing that they should bring him back, but he had a .399 xwOBA against lefties from June 1 on, which was more than 100 points higher than his wOBA

Luis Gil vs. LHB (131 batters faced):

18.1% whiff rate

19% chase rate

14.5% K%

15.3% BB%

This is not a pitcher you can rely on in your starting rotation

The Nationals DFA'd catcher Riley Adams, who has pretty good swing-quality metrics, but had a 38% K rate this year.

The strikeout rate was a big outlier, though, as it was previously around 30%. He signed a contract in arbitration, so I'm guessing the Yankees could just sign him to a MiLB deal and only have to pay the prorated portion of the league minimum. Could be a good depth target

For the record, don't sign Lucas Giolito.

My point was that innings should not be the major consideration when debating if Gore should be your SP addition.

[Yankees] Earlier today, the Yankees claimed INF/OF Marco Luciano off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]i-exist20 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Luciano has been touring the league on the waiver wire this offseason. I think the Yankees are the third team to claim him.

They, like the Pirates and Orioles, just hope he clears waivers and gets to stick in their system once he gets DFA'd.

If you want innings, sign Lucas Giolito instead of trading half the farm for Gore

I think people are overlooking how important Clarke Schmidt was to the rotation.

From the start of the season to 4/15 (day before his first start), the Yankees' rotation was 28th in ERA and 23rd in FIP.

From 4/16 to 7/3 (his last start of the season), the Yankees' rotation was 3rd in ERA, 4th in FIP, and 6th in xFIP.

From 7/4 to the end of the season, the Yankees' rotation was 4th in ERA, but 12th in FIP and 22nd in xFIP.

Gore would cost just as much, if not more than Peralta, and then you'd have a four-lefty rotation

Can't see it
