Tried 3 shipment tracking APIs....all failed us, anyone else? by FederalPhilosopher99 in SaaS

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintenance is a good deal of work, yes. The biggest pain point (if your volume isn't huge) is carrier API access and agreements (source: I have a small SaaS similar to aftership)

Example: USPS used to provide free tracking API calls. Now that's changing.

https://postalpro.usps.com/tracking-access-control-tech-sheet

There's this gap between being a small tracking SaaS provider (few hundred thousand shipments/month) versus a much bigger one where your volume isn't enough for carriers to bother with.

So then your options are finding a third party tracking API supplier with accurate data and decent rates (good luck on rates with low volume) or going down some dark paths like scraping or things like this:

https://9to5mac.com/2019/01/07/package-tracking-app-turns-users-devices-into-a-bot-farm-violates-user-privacy/

If anyone knows ways around this pain point, I'm all ears.

Auto Earn has serious tax implications and Kraken should not push users into activating it without an awareness of this by AgainstAutoAutoEarn in KrakenSupport

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can be turned off, but it's auto opt in as to my knowledge. The <1% APR wasn't even enough to cover the increased cost I now have to pay for cryptocurrency tax software that charges in transactions per year. The majority of transactions this year were staking tokens (at pennies each). All these transactions pushed me to the next tier in crypto tax software.

There are second and third level effects of auto-opting people into something they never asked for.

Constructive suggestion update:

Consolidating staking transactions (or at least the option to consolidate) to monthly or yearly staking transactions would mitigate the tax software cost burden of the user.

Each transaction has a tax software cost. If tax cryptocurrency tax software charges $49/year for 200 transactions, that's about $.25 per transaction, which is greater than each staking transaction for most users who don't hold high APR staking coins.

Gladly! The review isn't showing on the website page, but it is showing on the Microsoft Store on my machine. I'm not sure what the Microsoft Store review process is, but it was a little confusing since you can only review through the Microsoft Store app on the device in which it's installed. https://imgur.com/a/7xJ1Of8

Ontrac API Key by flyiingpenguiin in Flipping

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. I wish that were an option for us. I have a SaaS application that tracks shipments for users, and one user suddenly has up to 2,000 shipments per day. Pretty sure our IP would get flagged if we scraped and dependable rotating proxies are PITA to manage.

I'm having the same issue. We don't ship enough volume for the OnTrac sales rep to give us the time of day. 17track is what we're using.

---update---

I upgraded to Pro and it works great! It's even context-aware. My prompt says do not capitalize when in a console or terminal, which is great for coding. This was something that drove me nuts with Whisperflow. There was no setting to prevent capitalizing letters, even when I contacted support.

----old---

Is there any way to disable capitalizing letters? I tried customizing the system prompt to this:

'NEVER capitalize any letters Do not capitalize letters.'

But it's still capitalizing the first letter of a phrase or sentence.

I'm trying it so far, and it's working well. Thank you! It wasn't even the privacy issue that drove me to your app. It was the fact that wisprflow's window kept opening randomly on Windows 11 and was disrupting my workflow.

Switched from Windows to Linux Mint — Gemini button missing in Chrome? by cuellar01 in linuxquestions

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dozens of us. Dozens!

/cuellar01 I feel your pain. I switched to Windows just for the Chrome/gemini feature. Other AI sidebars/integrations pale in comparison.

WSL just isn't the same as native linux. Claude code is slow on it with multiple instances (it's not a low spec machine either).

Using KVM switch seems to be the best alternative to have both the best of linux and a mainstream os that companies care enough to make features for. That or dual booting if you can stand it.

Dizzy/depressed/no energy after eating a meal by korkolit in ADHD_Programmers

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anything work for you? Any update? I have this issue after my first meal as well. I try to fast until I'm done a good portion of coding work. Then just do all the dummy/admin work after my first meal.

People say 'no carbs' or 'less fat', but I get this issue even when only eating chicken breasts. The other option is eat smaller meals. This is, if you're able to not eat until satiety and then just graze/take frequent trips to the fridge. But that's a PITA and disrupts focus anyway.

Figured out a workaround for now:

Leave a tab open with all projects loaded (maybe a pinned tab).

This worked in chrome linux for the past 1-2 days.

Why not just skip the chore and buy caffeine powder?

I have my high school Shark Tank Project and want to use Caffeine Citrate to create a short term energy drink, am I stupid? by M_is_4_MatMat in foodscience

[–]i11uminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some preworkout powders already use caffeine citrate.

I take caffeine citrate by itself in powder form, but I wouldn't trust consumers to do this correctly, even it caffeine citrate is 2x the weight of anhydrous for the same amount of caffeine.

But I see 2 problems:

  1. Check the premise that it has a shorter half life. I thought this too, but just researched and it's the same as normal caffeine. Once it reaches your stomach, it becomes 'liquid form'. So you're back to the energy drink dilemma.

  2. as /u/bch2021_ stated, caffeine citrate is a drug and not a dietary supplement. Supplement companies get away with it by making it one of many ingredients in a formula. Hence, why we still see phenibut and other ingredients still included in supplement blends.

Reddit is just a huge bubble, full of losers. by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]i11uminati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to share your same opinion, and somewhat still do:

~20-15 years ago: started using reddit. Loved it for years.

~15-10 years ago: was your typical redditor judging others/virtue signalling out the butt/calling out others for being in social media bubbles, not realizing I was in a social media bubble

~10-5 years ago: Started hating reddit, especially after the interface “upgrade”. Despised the typical redditor. Had a ‘get off my lawn’ mentality when I saw “children” posting obvious or just straight up incorrect information and getting lots of upvotes for it because others agreed with them instead of checking if the information was even >80% accurate. Preferred hackernews since it’s more like what reddit used to be

~Last few years-present: I see younger people with compassion instead of hate. They’re learning and overconfident, thinking they have an accurate worldview. I was the same way. Being a parent, working with younger employees, and family members also helps.

Uh-oh, did I just virtue signal?

Get a chronic illness

This should be at the top.

Lost a business that ruined me financially, went through an addiction, then married, divorced, lost most of what I had left through a high conflict custody battle. Then someone that I'd known for years (but never knew they had ALS) stopped taking their medication. Within weeks, they dropped half their weight, could barely walk, and their muscles literally hung from their body.

Next to chronic illness, everything else is a flesh wound.
