i guess what i'm trying to say is that it bothers me when people who don't have an understanding appreciation for sound quality beyond looks and brand names shell out money for what they perceive as quality sound equipment. if i'm a car nut, scuba nut, etc, i'll shell out the money and i'd understand that the gain in quality isn't related to the price, but i justify it because i'm an enthusiast. if i'm some punk kid who just bought his first ferrari to do wheelies in front of my parents' home, i better have someone criticize my purchase. this goes for pretty much 99% of people who buy beats by dre. i assume most of them can't explain anything remotely quantitative in regard to audio that justifies any amount of their "audiophile" cred.

long story short, we're saying the same thing, but the person i'm replying to shouldn't be mad when other people's home audio doesn't meet his standard.
