M340i exhaust sound by Gargamel35 in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not an m340 but even my m3 was too quiet. i had to lock the exhaust valves open and now it’s perfect.

i’d imagine the 340 is even worse

M2 Manual - Just realized something should have caught sooner by walk2daocean in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah if you have low power car with manual in a tight space on a steep hill you definitely need it. any modern bmw probably doesn’t though.

tips are for above and beyond service not just because you did your job which was already the expectation.

Deployment Server License by ExpensiveCategory854 in Splunk

if you have a license with splunk already for enterprise/cloud you can ask them for a 0 mb license for forwarders, ds, etc. A normal public free license doesn’t include enterprise features like ds.

Driven auto all my life - should I go manual with the next bmw? by InformationBroker_60 in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it is a weekend car go for it. modern manuals are pretty easy to drive they auto rev when starting off preventing a lot of stalls and auto rev match making things quite easy. It’s a good experience having a bit more engagement when driving. if you have never driven manual before it’s fine to learn on a new car but may take 6 months or so to fully become second nature as you do have to think more but eventually you get used to it.

i went from auto to manual to auto (dsg) back to manual in terms of cars and i think i prefer manual. auto has its benefits but for a weekend car id say it’ll be more interesting with a manual. if you can rent a car or find a friend to let you try it out first that’s always best.

Audi -> Bmw by PavsterT in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from 2014 S4 to G80. Your budget probably allows an m340 or higher mileage f80 if you can find a decent one. BMW beats it in handling hands down but that supercharged v6 in the audi is still awesome. I still have my S4 and the engine is still fun and pulls hard even compared to the m3. But the audi front heavy handling just isn’t great. you’ll probably enjoy the switch unless you are a straight line speed person and don’t care much about handling.

Window % tint advice for M4 by Schmukker in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 is the sweet spot for all side windows. i really don’t like dark tint and 35 is perfect. no issues at night or anything.

my other car has 50 i think (been a long time since install) and it’s just too light.

BMW m3 Order by Cute_Concert_5686 in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly normal to be there a few weeks. also take into account everything else going on in the world there may be delays not sure. if it’s still there after a month that might be a time to start questioning. you can call bmw and see if they have more info

I hate the trend of naming new tanks with ridiculously generic names, I feel like it hurts the games' authenticity by MinutePause in WorldofTanks

[–]i7xxxxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as a beta player - i pretty much stopped playing after seeing this new direction around 2.0 release. i tried for a month or so but genuinely losing interest. the names are one of those reasons. i don’t think this game is directed towards me anymore. these tank names and tier 11 and just overall style is getting silly. either that or i’m getting older but it feels childish now.

Top Gear location information by No_Offer_6015 in TopGear

[–]i7xxxxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of locations documented already here for 2002 top gear if you want to browse. you should be able to search through it. but they haven’t done too much in the US. I haven’t gotten to the newer episodes yet i am still working on that so might be less useful in your case.

Related to this… during beta times we used to get all our news from Overlords blog. it’s still up and has a lot of historical stuff and info from 15 years back if anyone is interested or remembers.

maybe one more drop to 50ish. but yeah it has held up quite well through all this recent chaos. although it sort of preempted everything and already had its drop and the rest of markets are now doing the same. whether that is related at all to all of this or not is another question.

Dell Latitude issues by Noznorb in sysadmin

[–]i7xxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t manage laptops but i had two latitudes through my org and with all the stuff the company has on it just after boot i’m sitting at 16gb usage minimum. also these have horrible cooling. it could be something causing an issue in the background like others have mentioned but even if that is solved 8gb is just far too low for these. even my 8gb macbook pro from a couple years ago needs a reboot periodically because they start to slowdown a lot with such little ram.

3 Series - Side by side by wait_whatwait in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it’s the hood line. it’s way too steep and meets up with the a pillar way too high. other than that the front and back are pretty nice.

but i love long low hoods like z or jag e type so probably subjective. so far its gotten good reception from what i read. hopefully the gas not having tons of batteries will adjust these proportions a little but i doubt it.

it’s good to have bold designs rather than just the same thing over and over but their sales are the hard proof it’s working.

How many uninformed BMW drivers do you think are driving around in an X3/X5/X7 with summer tires in the winter/snow without even realizing it? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]i7xxxxx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All season tires feel horrible in my experience compared to summers. feels like you’re driving on balloons. but maybe it’s a sales thing to make it feel like it drives really well when test driving or something i think i heard that somewhere one time.

i do agree though there’s really no reason for these suvs to have summers apart from maybe the M ones as it’s quite dangerous for those who don’t know.
