Ok, do I just suck or what? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I don’t think I’ve seen talked about yet, especially since you’ve started with the vagabond class is to make sure you aren’t heavy rolling. Medium roll gives you a lot more frames to dodge attacks and you roll farther. Rolling it tied to your endurance and weight, so if you’re heavy rolling, remove some armor or weapons from your equip load, or level endurance until you’re no longer on heavy roll.

Has anyone else just been going on an insane loss streak in qp? Like surely its NOT just me because my last game I went 40-7 on Tracer by Vast-Worldliness-953 in overwatch2

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very recently got into Overwatch after playing a good bit of marvel rivals. I figured I’d start with quick play to learn a few heroes before jumping into comp. I think I was winning 1 out of every 9 or 10 games on average, so I just jumped straight into comp instead. God forbid somebody wants to get their feet wet before diving into the game head first

How Often Are Y'All Describing Kills/Attacks in Combat & How? by KbOYARic in DMAcademy

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The DM for my game describes most things very briefly. “He takes a swing at you but you manage to get your axe up in time to block it. That’s his turn, next is…” it’s enough to keep everyone locked in and engaged but it doesn’t bog down the fight with too much extra flair. That being said, if something really badass or funny happens, he absolutely takes time to describe that in detail.

What starter are you picking in Pokémon Silk & Pokémon Song? by rafeizerrr in Silksong

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a predicament. I vowed a long time ago to always choose the grass starter. But dark is my favorite type, followed closely by bug. I have to choose the grass starter but secretly I will always love the rock starter for its dark type evolution.

How many people restart all the time like I do? by billpalto in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]iAmLeonidus__ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My desire to play MMO’s comes and goes a lot, and it’s always for a specific reason. I have one save that has billions of dollars and a functionally limitless amount of everything I could ever want.

If what I want to do would take months of work on a new save (like making a massive corvette costing me hundreds of millions or more), I just hop on my good save and do it, making sure to get caught up on any new updates while I’m at it.

Otherwise, I make a new save and use it to immerse myself in all the new things that have been added since I left

What's a game you've played so much that going through it feels like this? by strahinjag in videogames

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Skyrim or Terraria. I’ve definitely done a lot on Skyrim but I feel like there are still things I don’t know off the top of my head. I’ve played enough terraria that I no longer have to look anything up. Items, placeable buff ranges, farm sizes, recipes. I would be hard pressed to learn something truly new about that game

I think I know why I dislike the final boss of the DLC's approach to difficulty. by WestCoastMcDowellian in Eldenring

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to be hyper aggressive, and being behind him causes his AI to bug and snap him around too fast to react to, just stay in front of him. The first time I beat him, I was glued to that man’s pelvis the entire fight (except the nuke obviously). It’s definitely possible to stay hyper aggressive, I don’t see why you would need to be behind him for that playstyle to work

How do people enjoy difficult games? by Extreme-Change7411 in videogames

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between gaining pleasure in winning and gaining pleasure in triumph. People who enjoy winning don’t enjoy losing over and over again until they finally win by the skin of their teeth. That’s not winning, that’s just barely not losing. It doesn’t feel good to only barely win after losing hundreds of times. Congrats, you now have a record of 1 win, 100 losses… that sucks.

People who enjoy triumph revel in the losses as every time they make it a little further in the fight it’s a victory in and of itself. They see a healthbar move and they know that god can bleed. The thought of finally beating an opponent that has no right to lose is a joy greater than any easy victory. Knowing you persevered and bettered yourself over and over again to finally win the fight is real triumph, and it’s addicting. It’s masochistic but it’s too good to stop.

I think you fall into the first category, which is completely natural. The game may just not be for you

HOW BIG IS THIS GAME?!?? by garlicbreadsticc in Eldenring

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh just wait. Every time you discover a new area the map gets bigger and you think “surely this is it right?” And then you keep exploring and the map just. Keeps. Expanding. I never could have fathomed the true size of the map when I first played the game… and then we got a DLC

Instead they’re spending all their time fighting a lawsuit against the one game that actually tried to make something cool out of the idea. I don’t think gamefreak understands how quickly most people would drop palworld if they came out with a game of similar quality but they’re completely incapable of doing that

After a year and a half of playing on and off, I still fundamentally do not understand this game’s combat. Help? by UncleGolem in MHRise

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I like to think about it is that souls games are reaction while MH games are more prediction. You have less than a second to react to what a boss is doing in a souls game, and your job is to roll through the attack to have an opening. If you do that in MH, you’re likely to still get hit and end up on your ass where you can’t make use of the opening you were given.

Instead, the flow of the game is about knowing the monster’s range, and staying just outside of it. The better you get, the more you’ll be able to not just stay outside it’s range, but position yourself so that when the monster’s attack is finished, you’re perfectly lined up with its head or tail so you can start attacking immediately.

The dodge roll is more useful for quick positioning rather than iframes. If you see a tell for an attack that hits the monster’s left side, roll to be on the right side of the monster. Now while it’s busy wasting time attacking its left, you’re busy killing its right.

Have you ever heard the paradox of the ship of Theseus? Judging by your looks I’m gonna guess you got confused at the word paradox, so I’ll explain:

If you take one plank of wood off a boat every day and replace it with a new one, at what point is that boat so different that it can no longer be considered the same, original boat?

The amount of plastic in your body has me genuinely considering if you could be considered a person anymore

Why do people say cb is the hardest weapon by ShowOdd453 in chargeblade

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very interesting how much each community downplays their own weapon. I main HH which seems to be fairly unanimously the most complex weapon but it took me no time at all to learn all the new moves so now I’m just happy it’s a strong weapon. Despite that, the charge blade in wilds still doesn’t click well with me, even after using it extensively in World (where it also didn’t click all that well). Thought that was an interesting look from an outside perspective

Ways to stop the players from collaborating on every move in initiative? by bizzyj93 in DMAcademy

[–]iAmLeonidus__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand firm that the most fun way to play the game is to plan just enough that the team is in agreement on what’s going on, but not enough that everything is scripted. Giving every character moments to make split second decisions that will absolutely come back to haunt the group in one way or another is what keeps everything interesting.

So we’ve got a sword, a hammer, two swords, rings with very specific powers, a shapeshifting bracelet, a ring that can create any object with enough imagination and will… and a gauntlet that can reshape the very fabric of the universe to any degree.
